Grouse Opener

I'm going to use my new to me Citori 20 ga o/u this yr. I have to wait until Monday in order to go with no Lic this yr.
I'll be taking my best Pal as usual. For him, I take a jug of cold water and a water dish. A roll of T-paper, paper towels, a fillet knife, hand cleaner, a sealed cold/salt water container for the field dressed grouse, ice jug of water for me, plenty of shells in a variety, a garbage bag, my camera, cell phone, hunting guide, may have forgotten something. We may or may not come back with a few, depends on Lady Luck, sometimes she joins us, sometimes she doesn't! At any rate, we always have a great time in the bush!

TD, whats the deal about waiting untill Monday to go with no Lic? Citori 20 guage will be a sweet grouse getter.

It was a really, really wet day when I headed out. Decided to go anyway as I miss being out there and the rain wasn't letting up anytime soon. Was looking for a bear but was ready for grouse just in case. Really wasn't optimistic about seeing any birds. Near dusk, what do I see but three nice birds on the trail. They were getting twitchy as I approached, knew they were going to bolt soon. Froze and waited til two milled around and when they came together I shot. I was fortunate to get them both with one shot, the third moved off the trail. Knew he was there, somewhere. Finally picked out his silhouette in the bush and dropped him as well. My wife cooked them up when I got home. That made the rain, muck and mire all worthwhile. Those days you don't forget.

I officially become a senior citizen on Monday Oct 10. I didn't realize that a CC does not require an Upland Game Bird Lic! Jr spotted it in the Hunting Guide!:)
