I sure hope I can get a picture on this thread. Have been within 20 yards of one bull now, good sized fella, two huge brow tines on each side and a total of 8 or 9 on each side from what I was able to count......naturally, they need to have 3 on the brow or 10 or more total on any given side to be legal here right now : (

7th time this has happened to me now between moose and elk, still waiting to get my first of either species, my luck is bound to change sooner or later. Next 2 weeks off work, first will be spent going for goat(if the alpine is still accessible) and elk, second week for moose once the rifle season opens again. I'm hopeful that this will be my year......

Wow! I just read your thread on HBC; terrific hunt, outstanding report and excellent photos! Huge congratulations!!!

On my way in this morning I saw a cow and calf, watched them for a while as they enjoyed feeding on posted land and provincial park behind them, no chance at them. No bull moose either but about 300 yards away in the same field there were 5 elk, never seen them before except on an elk farm and at a zoo. Drove to my spot (about 20km away) and saw another cow, she was gone before the truck was parked. Got out and tried calling and waiting for quite a while, nothing. Walked a ways away to a clearing I've been calling in recently and found about a dozen white tail in there. Gave a few grunts and ended up walking right in to about 40 yards on a couple of them. All those animals and one coyote and came home empty, ahh well, will be out before sun up tomorrow.

It appears from the original post animals from Canada only qualify for this? Lucky for you guys ;-)

Called him inside 20, had second thoughts considering how big he was work wise, he started to go back in the trees and I had a pang of regret, grunted again and he turned, stepped back out, took him and sighed... Work started. Federal 150gr fusion .308 cheapies, worked like a hot damn, he took three steps and flopped.

Ardent, show a complete pic of him - broken or not, it's all character.

I know of at least 2 good bulls taken, but the hunters haven't posted so it's not my place to show and tell. Seem a few good ones have hit the dirt this year. I hope to put a tag on my personal best this December.
