Med Bore Wildcats on a Standard Length Action

What grain of bullet are you firing in it Kevan?

Looks like the 375 whelen is right in the middle of the range of velocities I was interested in; with 5 rounds in the magazine.

Does anyone know if it's possible to form 375 whelens with a expander/resizing die like a 9.3x57?

In the 375 / 06 I use the 270 Hornady for fire forming and it works well for full power loads too.
I take a 35 Whelen case and expand the neck to hold a 270 gr. Hornady so that the seated bullet is jammed into the rifling when the bolt is closed thus keeping the case straight, let her rip and there you you have a nicely formed 375 / 06 Imp case.
Trim to proper length and reload it..... easy Peary...

Consider a 370 Sako/9,3x66 0.473" bolt face standard '06 length action. 250gr bullets up to 2700fps and 286gr bullets ~2550fps. Ramshot Big Game or VV-550 powders work well.

Don't see to many of these if your looking for something different.

Yes, nearly bought one at the Kamloops Gun Show a few years ago, still kicking myself.
Its certainly in the realm of the 375s and then some..

In reality a +P '62. I see no difference in 'on game' performance between it and a 375H&H or 338 Win. Mine is in a Sako M-85, holds 5 rounds and weighs ~7.5 pounds ready to go and doesn't kick to bad.

Nobody has mentioned the 340 Gibbs. It is basically an AI version of the 338-06.
The Gibbs family of cartridges are all 30-06 based and cover most bore diameters from 243 to 338 including the 8mm and 7mm.
I have a 340 Gibbs on an old Husqvarna FN Mauser and it is serious moose medicine. Can use bullets from 180 to 225 grain. Bigger pills than that would be better off being pushed out of a 338 Win mag.

Going thru the cartridge list on quickload and the 8mm-300 Win Mag caught my eye. Would be a simple one to do off a Husqvarna FN98 from trade ex. Impressive numbers too, 195 gr at around 3000 fps

I think a cartridge shooting 300 grain bullets at 2100+ fps is what we are looking for. Not the heaviest hitter but big bore lever gun performance from a 20' barreled bolt action.

8mm/300 wm on a tradex mauser sounds like a really good time for some reason.
