I like the Buckmark carbine, but a 12 inch or so barrel would serve my uses better. Is there a source for shorter barrels?,I know there used to be but apparently no recent manufacturing has been done.
I have searched and cant find any,I understand that the pistol barrels will not fit.

rifle where it meets the reciever (top green) and pistol (below)
the difference being a 90' cut vs a (aprox) 45'
i would think any metal shot could zing that off for ya with little to no problem.
that said the shortest pistol barrel you can get is 7 1/4"??

Don't you have to add metal, the 45deg dovetail, to the pistol barrel which is just square, to make it like the rifle barrel? Or are you suggesting cutting the chamber back and then cutting a new dovetail which might be cutting a barrel to shorter than 18" (prohib) You could easily, (I assume as I don't have one to look at), make the rifle barrel into a pistol barrel by removing the dovetail but I don't see a simple machining step to go the other way. Or am I having a seniors moment? They also look like the bolt goes over the back of the dovetail in the rifle with a recess cut in the bottom of the bolt face and sits flush with the back of the rectangle on the pistol with no recess.

I'm not sure how the barrels attach but I don't think there is an easy way to do it without cutting back and rechambering/dovetailing the pistol barrels and you would then be making a prohibited. I really think Browning didn't want any possible interchangability between the two barrels/guns.
