I really like the fit of the beretta a400 with 28" barrel but it seems light at 6 lbs. I don't think the a400 xcel is offered in 20 gauge. What are the other modern alternatives in 20 gauge? (Btw I really can't handle 12s for more than a dozen shots).
What is popular in a semi?
I use a citori lightning in 20 now and like it but want a semi too.
Thanks, Rob .

I once had a Browning Fancy 20 SA.
It had like Gr.V wood and some engraving with gold game scenes on it and it would run great the first 25 rounds.
The next round it essentially became a pretty single shot.
I have not tried my 1100 Remington, but would hazard a guess it will run flawlessly till it needs a rubber O-ring.

Have a Beretta 391 Sport in 20 gauge and it's a gem. Rare to see them come up for sale.
I have one of these too and agree 100 per cent. But as you correctly note the 391 Sport isn't easy to come by. Although the 391 has been largely replaced by the A400, Beretta does advertise the AL391 Light in 20 gauge although I've never seen one.

If for any reason I needed to replace my 391 I'd choose the A400 Xplor Action

I have a weatherby element deluxe which is based on the benelli action. I quite like it, so far its been very reliable and is a great fit.
Its turkish made but with american parts support.

Had one and yes a great gun but for a Sporting Clays gun they are very light. Better , as mentioned, if your going Benelli to look at the Córdoba or Supersport for Sporting Clays with a 20 gauge.

I have a Córdoba and find the trigger pull heavy and break less predictable. The only way to adjust is with a file which isn't recommended, permanent, might render gun unsafe & voids the warranty.

I know you said modern but the 1100 Sporting comes in .410, 28, 20 and 12. Is a soft shooter and is not particularly light (7 lbs for 20 gauge). It's the most proven and manufactured gas auto loading shotgun ever made and it's still in production for a reason.

The best 20 gauge semi is the one that fits you, it doesn't make any difference what the name is stamped on the side. If they don't fit you won't shoot them well and thats probably why you have trouble shooting the 12 gauges you have tried. I was totally sold on the Benelli super sport but they don't fit me the Berettas fit me like a glove and I shoot them well. Try as many as you can close your eyes lift the gun and you should be looking right down the barrel with no head adjustments when you open your eyes. Another vote for the 391s

I see a400 x cells (blue reciever 30" barells) for sale brand new on guns America from dealers but they aernt on the beretta website. What's up with that?
