No more Vortex for me

Wow! That says a lot about the confidence they have in the quality of their products.

Or at least some of them.

Just so everyone is aware of Bushnell's new warranty... Lifetime, unconditional, over the counter anywhere in North America. If the dealer doesn't have your scope in stock... you get the next model up at no charge.

This applies to the 3500 elite line and up

Will it stay like that is the question? Vortex was that way at first. Being able to run down to WWS and grab an opti to remount sounds attractive.

I have a Burris Signature Safari 1.75 -5x 32 on a .375 H&H. It was probably a 400-500 dollar scope when I purchased it and has been issue free.

It is mounted on a QD mount so that you could hit a release and it would shed scope rings, mount base and be down to the express sight instantly.

I have had to shed it a few times which means it took the recoil from the 375 AND being dumped on the ground. It is still as accurate as ever.

Sounds good. Discontinued now, but $450ish in 2009 if google is sound. I guess that puts it in VX3 $ range now.

Seem to recall being advised by a trusted sales rep that Burris utilizes a lot brass components (or used to??) in their designs instead of plastic. Less prone to internal dimensional changes caused by temperature extremes to zero consistently and possibly to be more robust. It would be a selling feature for me to consider.

That's too bad it is a nice scope for that caliber. Looks like the Burris Scout 2-7 replaced it at least in price.

I like the Leopold products, even field tested some of their prototype scope mounts and still use an older VXll.

Mine have done good job. Doubling the budget opens other options too.

The 1.75-6 looks like less than 500 however that may be in USD.

I suppose it matters how and were you hunt. I don't think you can go wrong with Leupold but I always delt with Gabe Lange not sure how it works here in Canada with Leupys.

Fortunately not true for Nikon, all of our glass is sourced from the only hunting optics company that is also glass manufacturer as well. Nikon! Even our entry level Buckmasters. All of our scopes come from the Philippines with the exception of the Prostaff 7 30mm line. Quality control is a point of pride within our company through all divisions and although like all manufacturers customers will come across the odd lemon I feel fairly confident that our failure rate would be very competitive with the best in the industry.

(We also have no restrictions on size of calibre for any of our scopes, even Buckmasters.)

The Nikon scopes I have are real gems including an older Monarch 1.5-4.5x20mm that has impressive clarity and brightness. It's on my .416 Remington Magnum and continues to handle the recoil just fine -

For starters... the NF NXS is a Second Focal Plane design which doesn't compare at all to the AMG which is a FFP. You'd be better off to compare the ATACR F1 which is easily $600 more than the AMG. The AMG is built 100% in the USA with materials sourced in the USA as well. Frank from SH went and toured the factory as they were developing these scopes. Not sure you actually care about the facts though since you just seem to have a made up your mind about Vortex based on your experience with their cheapest models.

colud you tell me where the lenses in USA are coming from?

I'm certain that Zeiss manufacturers their own glass (Schott) as does Schmidt and Bender...

Where are the older Nikon Monarchs made? (I would guess entirely in Japan) I have an old one from the days of glossy finish on my CZ combination that is an excellent scope. Where is the new Prostaff 7 line made if not made the same place as the other lines?

schott is selling to a lot of companies ...

ask why Saworvski bought Kahles ....

Glass is ground, polished and coated right in their facility in Wisconsin according to Frank from Snipershide

w ww.scout.com/military/snipers-hide/story/1678673-vortex-razor-hd-amg-6-24x-review

asked them. as so far it was coming from Schott (germany) grinding by Marumi (Japan) and coatings by Nikkor (Japan).

my quote was on the nightforce sorry for the deviation.

No argument from me. Thing is 80% of us can't afford them. Families get prioritized.

I bought 2 zeiss conquest's for $450. Nothing wrong with them I would surely take them over any vortex. I have a viper on my hmr, diamondback on a 22lr, and a hs-lr on a 6x45. Yes I bought into the vortex sales pitch of "look at all these features". I recently got a nightforce that wasn't much more then the hslr and everything about it is 100x better quality.

There are good lower cost scopes out there but vortex won't be getting any more of my money.
