Drifting Shadow 2 Rear Sight

Yes, I have Shadow 2 rear sights on my match guns, they are oversized so it does take a bit of filing on the sight to fit them to the slide.
As you mention Bob, Shadows, including the 2s, are generally bang on for mechanical sighting lining up with the bore. 99.99999999999% of the time if they are shooting low left or high right, it's the shooter. The other 0.000000000001% (I think that's the right number of zeros) if the gun is shooting low right or high left, it's the shooter, only this time a lefty not a righty. For the remaining 0.00000000% the gun might be off. This actually applies to the vast majority of pistols made. Sometimes the sights are in fact adjusted wrong at the factory and restoring them to center fixes them

My SP 01 Shadow shot bang on target out of the box. Great gun! My Shadow 2 however was definitely shooting slightly low and to the left out of the box. Factory test target that came with it had near identical low left group. Both free hand and bench rest produced same low left groups.

Fully realize the tendency for right hand shooters with improper grip and trigger push (to left) as opposed to straight back pull to shoot low left. But that's not the case here with my Shadow 2. It was definitely shooting low left out of the box. 2 others with Shadow 2s I've met at the range plus all of the posts on this and other CGN strings seem to report the same low left groups out of the box, with similar factory test targets. Just sayin. Looks, walks and quacks like a duck, probably a duck.

No biggie though. As I posted above. I drifted my rear sight slightly to the right, adjusted the elevation and it's all good baby! She's shooting bang on now! And I find myself quickly falling in love with the smaller fibre optic front sight. It's giving me way more accuracy, especially in my long shots than the larger fibre optic did in my Shadow. Think I'm gonna really like this gun!

I didn't like the small fiber. I've already replaced mine with a larger one.

Ndb86,
Do you know the size of the fibre optic rod that comes with the Shadow 2? What size fibre optic did you replace it with? And finally where did you buy the replacement front sight and what was the height of the new ft sight?

I don't know the size it came with, nor the size I replaced it with. I bought a very long rod of fiber from a friend years ago and I still have most of it. I simply modified the current sight, but I have a couple of spare sights from my current shadows that look identical, so I'd presume they are just a standard cz 75 front sight.

The rod is 1mm, instead of changing to larger rod just bulb up the one end more. Simple. But yes, in dim lighting the larger rod is going to deliver slightly more light.
As for the sight, Shadow 2 has 7.5mm tall, Shadow has 6.0mm tall as standard sight heights.

my shadow 2 comes with 1mm fibre optic rod. i just cut it out to replace it with green 1.5mm rod (i had some that i used on my sp-01 shadow) but it does not fit in the shadow 2 front sight. now i have to go rouge river arms to pick up some green 1mm rod.

At first I did not like the 1.0 mm sight I replaced on my regular Shadow, but it grew on me and now I like it, you can see more of the target through the "light bars" Before I got used to it I was having left and right issues. Also tried the green, but went back to red.

Thx Slavex!

Slavex,
Since we're on a roll, would you by chance know what the weight/poundage is of the factory recoil and hammer springs are on the Shadow 2?

The Shadow 2 Review thread down the page a ways has a lot of talk about the springs. Now where do I get the 11lb recoil and 11.5 hammer springs suggested by Slavex? The DA pull is killing me.

Really? I went to make an order and it was $46, then I removed everything except 1 spring and the cost was the same. i then tried different postal codes and it remained the same $ amount. I will try again

Tried to order some stuff this AM and it couldn't calculate my shipping rate. Grrrrr

Edit: The site is working again. It quotes me $42 for shipping. Ouch.
