I am just curious..
These are fine weapons, I know our troops and police use them etc. But they are 3x the price of seemingly similar rifles. What is with the cult following on these rifles? Why are many of you willing to pay out the nose for a rifle or BCG from them when a DD or BCM costs as low as half as much? Am I missing some great knowledge here? Grant me thy wisdom fellow forumites.

Ha yep.. thats what I was thinking. And for less money I made a much better looking rifle, just wondered if there was some kind of magic in these or something..
They are very plain and entry level *looking* so I figured there was a catch other than being made well and Canadian

I think their barrels are a fairly premium - cold hammer forged, chromed, medium-weight. How much would an equivalent cost retail?

For the upper, lower and other parts...I can't make the case for the full mark-up although the upper and lower parts fit is impressive (at least to me).

Larry Vickers said they have the best/most accurate barrel out there so the fanboys went nuts! Personnaly, the SA serie didn't appeal to me. Crappy stock, handguard and grip. Poverty charging handle and horrible trigger. For the price asked, no thank you. The MRR serie looks great but the monolithic upper is a 10 years old technology.

I haven't changed my stock furniture mostly because it functions perfectly. Only things I've changed is trigger to a GA Hi speed national match which is one amazing FCG and the charging handle to an ambi raptor handle (I shoot lefty). One thing I found awesome is the tuned gas system, all my brass lands in a nice little pile next to me.

anything "Canadian" made and high priced sells well in Canada. The perception that quality is higher, brings some prestige, patriotism, and let's face it, we do make some pretty high quality stuff. But we love Canadiana.

Colt Canada, Canada Goose, Hudsosns bay, Lululemon, native/ local arts, high end furs. I'm sure there's tons of others. I for one don't mind buying from a company that has skilled labour force and are employing people in our country.

I was mentioning I didn't know about the gas system but that comment slipped in. Yeah thats true, patriot mentality is always good and sadly lacking compared to the US
