Shell holder question.

From what I can see they are the same thing. For some reason Lee puts a R in front of the 2 in some places. The 308 win and 8x57 JS both take the same #2 shell holder, or if you prefer R2. See this link to look up the one you want. If you click on the number it sends you to a page that has a picture of the package with a R in front of the 2!!
Lee have pretty sloppy shell holders. I've had some that would pull right over the rim and leave the case in the die.
There is a good solution, get Lyman shell holders. They cost more, but they are a good, precise fit to the case.
So many different cartridges are built around the same base--all the standard Mausers, the 30-06, the 308 and all the many calibres from them, that one should have the best shell holder he can find, for that one size.

yup red box and green box. I've never been in need of shell-holders since I bought them wayyyy back. Covers just 'bout everything.

Not at all. It sure beats the alternative of moving the shell holder back and forth from the priming tool to the press over and over.
If $25.00 is a deal breaker for 11 shell holders that will last you not only your lifetime but your children's and grand children's then I suggest finding a hobby that doesn't include lobbing money downrange.

Lee isn't the only one with captive shellholders. Hornady has a different hole size to everyone else, to use with their trimmer. RCBS and etc have a smaller hole and can be drilled out to .300 to use on Hornady stuff that has a retaining system like the trimmer does.
