I picked up a Model 70 SS Ultimate Shadow yesterday for my 12 year old son. I went to take it apart for cleaning and it was glued tight into the stock. A 2X4 and some noise got it apart, but so much for better bedding in the new Model 70's. Oh well, a little epoxy has it going again.

Why did you separate it from the stock exactly? If its new and stainless steel there is nothing to clean and there is no rust

won't rust? Let me tell you, stainless rusts! Maybe not as easy, but it does. There was post here recently about a guy who's friend packed away his stainless rifle wet, after 1 week or so there was rust and pits everywhere.

You need to separate the action from the stock to clean and oil every now and then. It shouldn't be glued into place.

Ive got lots of "stainless steel" tools covered in rust.

Anyone who says stainless doesnt rust doesnt have much life experience.

It would seem that the term "stainless" when used for firearms advertising is suspect. There are different qualities of "stainless". If a magnet sticks to it it isn't very good stainless.

If a magnet sticks to it, it generally means it a martensitic stainless like 416 or 17-4, which are hardenable. Kind of important and i'm sure the suppliers are not manufacturing their guns with the cheapest grade of stainless available from China or India. There is a reason they do not make guns out of non-magnetic stainless like 300 series, I bet if you check the cheapest and most expensive stainless guns a magnet will stick to them all.

I have glass bedded dozens of rifles. Most of the rifles I own are Winchesters. A picture is worth a thousand words. This barrelled action was glued to the stock.
