Pics or it didn't happen. If you are unimpressed wih the results, do a similar test wit your AR and ammo of choice. Post pics and data.

Besides, it got sub MOA with one kind of ammo, and IVI wasn't tested. Results were reasonable/not unexpectedly bad with most of the ammo tested. I've not seen such tests done with other AR's very often. What I would like to see is 10 round groups and chronograph data, but you can't get everything. I'd also let it cool and run a bore snake with Hoppes 9 through it between strings.
 
Every info helps..... I just got a hold of some FGMM 77 gr SMK to add to the list for the next test as well as some TAP. I will do a 10 round for you brother. If someone has a good price on a chronograph I would love to provide more data. I enjoy the challenge of getting sub MOA and providing as much proof as possible not smack lol

Interesting; maybe I'll the same test with my IUR & CC bolt and post the results... I've always kinda wondered if it'd make a difference. I'll also group some 5.56 as well, since these aren't Wylde chambers. I've been curious about that too.

I haven't done any extensive testing with mine but I did try some testing comparing 5.56mm Hornady 75 grain BTHP Superperformance Match vs .223 Remington Hornady 75 grain BTHP Superperformance Match. I only did four 5-shot groups of each. They were as follows:
5.56mm 1.3 inches, 1.3 inches, 1.7 inches, 1,8 inches
.223 3.3 inches, 3.4 inches, 4.0 inches, 4.1 inches

The difference doesn't seem reasonable to me so I suspect there was a problem somewhere. I had expected maybe a half-inch difference between 5.56 and .223. I will maybe try it again with more ammo some time in the future.

The rifle was a Colt Canada IUR with a Daniel Defense bolt carrier group on a Dlask Arms lower receiver. Standard GI trigger.

It is not super unexpected. Even different lots of ammo can have drastically different results.

I haven't shot much of my own IUR, I only did a one pass quick ammo trial . It shot AE .223 into a 5 rd 1.5MOA group at 200m. With PMC XTAC M855, it shot like a 4MOA group at 200m. It was so big I didn't even bother to record the size and I just put "unapproved" on my spreadsheet.

This kind of behaviour is not unique to IUR, it happens to all makers. Some are more drastic, some are not. Some shoot everything averagely ok, some like certain ammo very well and shoot others like buckshots.

Each barrel manufacturer has its own little quirks, and each ammo ( by year, by lot and by manufacturer) behaves differently. Don't think too much, test different ammos and use the ones that are proven performers. There is no point of trying to "convince" yourself or make yourself believe your rifle is accurate by spending endless time and money to get that mystical 1" group with all brands of ammo. Just run with whatever that works. If something does't work, cross it out!

The only reason I got the IUR is to get sub MOA. I found the ammo the Barrel likes now I will do a 5x5 to see if she can get sub MOA consistently. That is the hobbit in me. If my rifles don't shoot sub MOA I personally don't want it. This test is for who wants sub MOA or who does not want sub MOA.

Thanks for this. I just tested a new barrel (10.5") with a variety of ammo. Groups ran 1.5" to 4". I don't feel so bad now.

BTW, when you measure groups, just measure from the bottom of one hole to the bottom of the other. That is the same as center to center.
