Hey guy's i don' know if you seen bu we have a Canadian company that just released an action. Ultimatum Precision!

From what is see it will be a wicked option for PRS build. This action feature a solid list of and their price is really interesting.

Meh, as much as I would prefer it to be in CDN funds, just do the conversion, that's what they would charge.
The US market is way bigger than ours so I get that. Their price isn't terrible either way, and it looks like a very interesting action.

Interesting looking action but I get the impression they are not very bright. Their web site requires that I install software just to access it. That's just plain stupid. If I cant open their web site with plain old internet explorer, forget it. No web site it worth installing some who knows what software just to have a peek.

Stupid #2 is the scope rail is screwed on. With an action like that the scope rail should be part of the receiver. If its screwed on it will eventually come loose. They always do. They should make a command decision and own that space. They build what looks like a cool tactical action and then effff it up by making it the same as other punk butt actions pretending to be something. At least Surgeon did that part right.

Stupid #3 is the bolt flute direction is backwards. Bolt fluting is a safety feature that allows over pressure to vent from the left side lugway but it should be going the opposite direction to be effective. This one is unforgivable.

Too bad they messed it up. Maybe they'll fix it one day.

On a good note, they were smart enough to nitride harden the receiver.

Interesting.

If it accepts Savage style barrels and has a floating bolt head that is swapped in a couple of seconds it almost makes this a multi-caliber platform.
 
A few glitches, but that rails never coming loose, the PGW I have is two part. Floating bolt head is a good idea, works well for Savage
and bolt flutes being there for safety? Tough crowd!

I for one wish them well, its a tough market
 
The action is threaded 1-1/16"x16tpi so you have to use a "remage" style prefit or get a smith to spin a blank on for you. Nice having the option. The same thread as savage would have been really nice, opens up the prefit options. Personally I really like the approach they used so it's the base for my next build. Now I need to scrape the funds together.
 
Well I opened the web page just fine without any special 'download' ... the action looks just fine ... the rail is screwed AND pinned so I imagine it will stay put without a problem ... and as the guy says on the video -- it allows the shooter to change to a different 'angle' base if required. I really like the three lug bolt head and the fact that it is detachable and interchangeable makes the action flexible - I dont know what the 'floating' feature does but time will tell - however in theory it should make the bolt head more likely to self centre and secure the cartridge base more fully (like a three legged stool). I like the integral recoil lug as it is better solution compared to the 'trapped' lug design of the Remington style and also allows a longer threaded tenon. Standardising on some Remington specs is very smart ... overall it looks like a very good action imho ... AND I am VERY pleased to see a Canadian company build an action of this sort ... well done!! and I wish them the best of luck.

(It would be nice to have a hands on - to see what other design feature/benefits these guys have built in... It dont think these guys just fell off a turnip truck... this seems like a 'heads up' design)
 
Yeah, I like this design. The floating bolt head is the same idea as the Bighorn TL3. Self-centres for equal bearing on the lugs and the heads are also interchangeable so you can swap calibers just by changing the bolt head, not the whole bolt. Integrated recoil lug is nice as is the screwed AND pinned scope base. Wish it was 1k CAD instead of USD, haha
 
I bought one, waiting for magnum bolt face for a SA, I like what it has to offer which is lots and made in canada no hassles and they have a 100% guarantee on it whats not to like.
I will set it up for 6.5SAUM.

Well its interesting to see that many people getting into making actions in Canada, hopefully it works out good for them.
 
Bolt fluting is somewhere for dirt and debris to go when it gets into the action, and in the winter if it is done in a certain way, should help prevent actions from freezing up as well. Realistically for 99% of the users out there, it looks cool.
The floating bolt head is great, want to go from a 6.5 creedmoor to 6.5 SAUM at your next barrel swap, easy, change the bolt head. Plus it guarantees your bolt lugs have good contact with the lug abutments in the receiver.
 
I am hoping to have mine back from the chou brothers this week. It is being chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor with a Benchmark barrel in a BH varmint contour.
Will put out a full review of the action in the next couple weeks.

I will have it with me at the PSOC practice in Meaford on November 5th if any one wants to look at it.

Bullseye London also has a couple in Stock.

I agree .. California alone is bigger (in population AND GDP) than ALL of Canada. AND it is entirely possible that some of the material they use is sourced in the US (or royalties paid?) which makes it easier/wiser to denominate in US dollars...

I suspect that when and if they get this feedback ... they can quickly post a Cdn $ price as well. Not the end of the world. But good show overall and wish them the best.





( I enjoy the story about the guy that went lobster fishing for the first time in Maine with a local fisherman... he noticed every time the fisherman pulled up a lobster he put it in a big bucket and immediately put a heavy lid back on top of the bucket... the guy asked "why the heavy lid?" and the fisherman said that if he didnt put it on .. the lobsters would climb up over the the top of the bucket and escape from the boat when he wasnt looking. Several weeks later the same guy was visiting PEI and went out with local lobster fisherman - same drill BUT the PEI fisherman didnt bother with a lid on the bucket - the guy asked why no lid - wont they get away? The fisherman said ... "well boy - these here are Canadian lobsters - when one of them looks like he is going to get out - the others reach up and pull him back down into the bucket!")

If it came in a single shot configuration it might be an action I'd go for but I'm guessing that PRS is the target audience and not F-class. Like the Savage it'll be a great switch barrel project, however I'm thinking the machining and precision is far superior than the Savage.
