It's a service pistol, it only needs to be combat effective which it is and much more. Have a look at Hickok45's video of shooting to 230 yards with his Glock.

You mean Smith and Wesson's second or third attempt to copy a Glock, the first of which they were sued for due to patent infringement. The same M&P that failed the FBI trials and was asked to leave the US Army modular handgun trials. The same M&P that has a nearly unserviceable stock trigger that nearly everyone changes. Maybe you're talking about the M&P that has 14 more parts than a Glock, weighs 2.5 oz more than a Glock 17, is slightly thicker, has a heavier trigger, a shorter non hammer forged or polygonal rifled barrel, and near non existent tactile trigger reset.
There is no simpler gun on the planet by parts count. Beretta 92- 67 parts. 1911-52 parts. M&P-48 parts. SIG 226-55 parts. Springfield XD-55 parts. CZ Shadow-63 parts. Browning HiPower-52 parts. Hk USP-52 parts. Walther PPQ-34 parts(magazine counts as one whereas Glock includes all five parts of the magazine in their count) Walther P99-38 parts(magazine counted as one part). Ruger SR9-61 parts(magazine counted as one part). Glock- 34 parts including 5 parts of the magazine. It will function safely on 29 parts.

im not saying Glocks aren't simple or reliable.
i have one, i know they are.
the days i want to hold a brick AND shoot at the same time i take it out.
the days i want to actually enjoy myself at the range i take pretty much any other gun ever made.

i think they judges will agree that 0.5mm (half a millimeter) is not even worth mentioning in polite company.

They didn't come up with it, they simply mastered it and offered a very safe very simple design in the process. So successful that everyone else has tried to copy it, and failed. That half millimetre is minimal but it seems to be an issue with people when they discuss interchangeable backstops which add or reduce the LOP by a whopping 2mm.
The Makarov parts diagram i looked at lists 45 parts, and it lacks capacity, a rail and weighs more than a full size Glock 17. The baby Browning is chambered in a useless calibre, is not reliable, has limited capacity, no sight options and works off a fixed barrel which precludes the need for a locking block.

True enough, but once you start marketing a pistol as being for competition, the standard for 'tactical' or 'self-defense' isn't good enough. It has to meet the expectation of those in the competition space. Accuracy wise it does for the most part, though it is not leading the pack

They are very simple - until it's midnight the day of a CQB shoot and you finally get to clean your gear. In a moment of fatigue, you accidentally put the slide and barrel on without the spring and guide rod. Not so simple anymore! 45 minutes later and 3 YouTube videos later, I get them apart, clean and get to bed!
and that is why you don't mess with your guns the night before lol.. Nothing good happens after midnight!

BTF was way over blown by range queens. The issues with the Gen 4 were real and were fixed quickly. Tell me who hasn't had issues with a gun they've introduced? In my opinion the Gen 4 was an answer to a question no one asked. Even with all the issues Glock still holds the vast majority of LE contracts and is the most popular pistol used by military units around the world. I'm sure the rebuttal will be that they were/are adopted because they're "cheap".

BTF is an issue and no it's just an issue for range queens. If Glock is so good, why can't they fix the issue?
I would love to own Glocks again, but my experiences with BTF made me look for other handguns.
I get it, your a Glock super fan and can't accept Glock handguns are not perfect.
