By your description Sherlock I think we have different variants, mine has the external hammer with ejectors and the release latch for the barrel and chamber is the trigger guard.. Hope I don't run into those kinds of issues...

As for the chokes that come with the gun, I notice different chokes have different notches to show what type of choke it is, it's my understanding that "more notches = tighter choke" is this the case? Looks like 5 notches is full and 4 is improved 1 is cylender.

You're right about the notches, but you have the meaning backwards...

Yup, totally got it backwards lol Pretty Sad when I knew that it was the opposite just by visually inspecting the tighter choke with only 1 notch compared to the others. Is there any kind of grease or lubricant that should be applied to the threads now and again?

If you are the sort of person who will shoot a gun then put it in the locker, i suggest some sort of anti seize. I bought a stick at Lordco, looks like a glue stick. Otherwise you may return to your shotgun down the road and realize the choke is seized (not fun to deal with. Almost had to take mine to a smith...)

If you clean/lube your firearms religiously, then it probably doesn't matter. Mine seized after a few hundred rounds through it over multiple trips out, over a period of months without a clean.... now i always make sure the choke is loose when it goes away too, just for good measure. Gotta remember to tighten it back up each time, but that's a small price to pay...

Well, I make a habit of always cleaning my firearms after every shoot, to me they are life long purchases so I try to keep them in the best condition I know how, but I am always looking for better methods to clean and care for my firearms. I always run cleaners and oil down the bore and use an oil soaked rag or fresh oil on the outside of them too, keeps things looking nice and keeps them protected. I'll just take the choke out now and again and make sure there is some oil on the threads and the outside of it and same on the inside of the bore.
 
Has anyone had consistently accurate shooting slug from these sinsinati shotguns? Let's say 3-4" groups with out a rifled choke tube, although I will probably get one later on down the line.
