Picked up one of the first RPR's in 308 and have taken it out several times and with a variety of factory ammo, the best I can get is 2" to 3" groups at 100 yards. Was interested in swapping out the barrel for a JC Custom, but unfortunately don't have the tools required for the barrel swap. Anyone familiar with any good gunsmiths in the Winnipeg area that could do this for me? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

On factory barrels, I shoot at least 60-80 rounds without getting the barrel hot before I zero or worry about grouping.

Just a thought for you to consider first.

What ammo are you shooting? My stock and custom doesn't like Hornady superformance 178, federal gold match 175 is a good choice.

Besides that if determined to swap anyway JC's is a exellent choice, that's what I went with, but I swapped my own so sorry no help in that department.

I have taken it out three times, and have shot about a hundred rounds each time, over the course of a full afternoon each time. I picked up a variety of ammo, Hornady and Federal mostly, in 150, 165, 178, and 180 grain. Some shot better than others, but 2 to 3" groups were the best at 100 yards.

I would check the head space and all the torque specs before replacing the barrel. Mine had a few loose bolts on it. Tightened and check everything over now factory Remington Core locks punch one hole at 100.
