Hi Guys,

what would you say is the most accurate single shot rifle?

Assuming modern-ish production, quality optic, one of the more common hunting calibres (270, 308, 30-06, etc0

ruger #1, win 1885, browning b78, luxus, other?

Would prefer a falling block, solely because I think they're cool, but would consider break action

I would be frustrated if I dropped the coin on a nice single shot and couldn't get it under 1 MOA. I know, I don't need 1 MOA, but this is about want, not need.

Thanks

Fat

Winchester low wall is wonderful to Carry in the hand and my Favorite
My T/C ProHunter is nice but not as nice as the Winchester low wall
but I love the shorter 15" barrels in 308 and 223 plus I picked up a 28" 300 WM and a 12 gauge turkey barrel for the T/C ProHunter barrels makes a pretty versatile package
Ruger #1 is legendary but I don't have first hand experience
Take your pick all are grate rifles

i really only have experience with a ruger #1 chambered in 45-120 with a pacnor barrel .
i've shot other chamberings with a factory barrel in a #1 , but it is nothing more someone else's rifle and their ammo and not enough time behind them to give a really clear picture of what they can do ........

but my rifle on a bad day will shoot 1/2 inch groups , even using 45-70 ammo it will still print well under 1 inch .

Would say the Encore properly set up would be your best bet for 'most accurate single shot'...and access to multiple calibres is nice. I have a factory. 223 heavy barrel on an encore that is ok...but here is what can be done if you have a mind to:

I can't say it is the most accurate single shot, but the Savage LRPV I have with a right bolt, and left eject port does pretty well for me. Three consecutive three shot groups:

Another vote for the Ruger. My 06 would cloverleaf five shot groups all day. And that is with a cheap Tasco scope.

Another big plus is that I love the look and feel of the gun.

Yeah fiberglass stainless guns that shoot in the 1s and 2s are cheesy!

Unwritten rule around here that we dont speak of Savage rifles....old antique clunkers are fine though.

Yes a dakota 10, ruger #1, millers, browning 78, 85 are antique clunkers. Give your head a shake. And yes, savages are cheesy compared to any of the above.

Maybe not cheesy, but certainly not classy...... and 6BR is hardly a "classic" hunting cartridge.

No rule around here that we dont speak of Salvages, but is there really a need to? ;)

We don't speak of Coopers and Kimbers in this thread either. Did you read post #1? Falling block or break action single shot is what he's interested in.

I swear Savage fanboys have Tourette's, they blurt it out every chance they get, no matter how irrelevant.

HaHa!

Kinda like vegans.......... how do you now if someone's a fanboy?, don't worry, they'll tell you.........

For handling Winchester Low wall its slim and sleek balance nice in the hand

T/C ProHunter is not the most accurate but it's accurate enough for hunting and is the most handy hunting rifle that gets better and better as you add new barrels
