Hi all, been looking at getting a used side by side for a few years now. Would like something good for getting to the good hunting grounds and also to get into my remote camp.
I looked at the polaris rangers but I don't like the bench seat idea... What would some of you guys with experience suggest? It has to have a large cargo box and not racey at all.
Maybe a Kawasaki teryx?? Suggestions as I know nothing about these units. Thanks!

I have 2 Rangers and highly recommend them. They are the best finished and most trouble free on the market. I've had one for 6 years now without so much as a minutes grief. The second one is 2 years old and again trouble free. Used it for 2 solid weeks last fall on Haida Gwaii and it performed flawlessly.

What size rangers c-fbmi? I looked at the 500's but wondering if they would be underpowered? The dealer was asking $10,000 for a new 2017 ranger 500

I have the 4 seater Kawasaki teryx and I love it. Tons of attachments and accessories to make it even cushier. I shopped around for sxs' for a bit and Kawasaki had the best warranty IMO. 3 year factory warranty. They are pricey though. What's your budget?

Those are pretty nice jmpell! Can't find any used ones for sale though :( One dealer had the two seater teryx on for $19,000 and another I looked at in Kelowna had one at $13,000.
I don't have a lot of spare cash sitting around so used is probably my only option

Both mine are the 850 EFI one 4X4 and the other is a 6X6. I recommend the 4X4 for hunting and it is much easier to steer and just seems a lot more nimble. I have the canvas top on the 6X6 and I highly recommend that over the hard top set up. The hard top set up made it seem too tippy and top heavy in my opinion. The canvas (actually nylon I guess) is light and stops the wind and rain just fine.

I've got a Ranger 400 (pretty much a 500 but carb unit instead of EFI) and have rarely found it lacking for power and have had some pretty stout loads on her........unless you spend a lot of time in the mud.

Good luck, all the ones I have seen are fragil POS's, twice the weight of a quad but utilizing a quad suspension and drive train, something is going to break, not if but when and how bad and how much.

I know it's tough to find used, I hope you find something! Friend of mine just sold his 2013 teryx for 15k a few weeks ago. They're around!

Buddy bought a new Teryx back in the day and it was nothing more than an overgrown golf cart
until he modded it up.
Biggest thing is clearance.
I picked up a near mint 09 Rhino and while I do enjoy using it, it's brutal on my knees.
Broke one in my younger years and had it out today.
Dang knee throbbing.
Sitting on the fence whether I will sell it or not.
Great unit with a ton of updates.
Also have a tricked out Zewk.
Hate being insurance poor, so the thing is pouting out in the back yard.
Might go back to the trusty old quad.

depends what you are needing it to do, I have a old Mule its lasted 16 years only ever replaced a rear drum and brake cylinder, owes me nothing, 4 years ago got a Kioti Mechron, diesel, its good to 25mph, tons of power and we enjoy the bench seat, one can get into it either side and add a grand kid, its heavy but tough, lots of clearance go anywhere. way less than Kubota

Yamaha Rhinos are a good mix of utility and a little sporty with accesories still available. Some good used ones on the market. Single cylinder means less issue. Get the fuel injected ones though.
Kawasaki Teryx is similar but most people don't know about the engine troubles they can have. Heard it right from a Kawi mechanic. They share their motor with the quad. Both are a two cylinder set up with the cylinders in front and back of the machine. When one is used for a lot of hill climbing, the front cylinder gets starved for oil and it gets wrecked. A very common problem on them. My friend had that very issue with his. I have never been a polaris fan but there should be some out there too.
