I got an email from Daniel Guay at the CFC in Ottawa about my 12-3 FN FAL. It has been in their hands for the past 33 months.

They told Wes at Epps early last spring it was inspected and had to have a few other modification before being released.

That's all he heard from them, them nothing. So after that I asked them repeatedly with no answers.

They asked if I wanted it sent back to Epps for further modifications before its released to me.

When they send it to Epps is anyone's guess could be home by 2017.

I am going to buy or trade for another 12-3 just to Pi** them off.

Anyone want to trade a restricted or prohibited guns for their 12-3 guns?

Man what a piss off. Here is the lesson own them and shoot them, the system doesn't work. We should all write an open letter to the CFC stating that due to their slow work ethic and any lack of professionalism we won't hand in our guns. Heck we should all call them from pay phones and say "hey I have a @#$%$ and want you to process it but I hear it takes you 3 years so I am not sending it in" Just make up outrageous stories like you have a vickers machine gun or AK 47. Say "sorry you are too slow" and hang up.

So what are the mods they want done. I talk to a guy in a similar situation and they want him to totally butcher the rifle. The stupidest one is welding the upper and lower together. I don't know how he is going to be able to clean the rifle.

Uh huh and what happens when an internal part wears or breaks and causes the gun to go FA? The owner gonna get charged with an illegal MG because the RCMP prevented him from fixing or replacing a part? Riiiiiiight!

Isn't that moot point since the prohibited firearm can't legally be brought to a range and fired?

Ok just got my e-mail from the RCMP . My 12.3 has finally been examined. It took two months for them to request the exam . Then 37 months for them to get around to doing the exam. Now it has to go back to Epps for modifications (welding) to make it a permanent 12.3 . They then have to take photos of the work and send them to the lab. Once that is completed I then get to take possession. In total I think from date of purchase until I can finally get it it will be around 42 months.

They are working full time trying to demonstrate that SKS and a VZ58 are "easily convertible" into full auto. I am not surprised that they are unwilling to spend their precious time on anything else. Extremely busy people.

they should spend their precious time catching criminals.. Not law-abiding firearm owners!!! with 5 rounds mag.

So let me get this straight, they're worried that your rifle will be converted to full auto? A rifle you can't even take to a range because they will deny you a transport permit. So how many levels of law do they think you'll break?
