Jury barrels?

I have an 8 twist 6mm jury barrel chambered in .243 Win. and it's good but not great. I have had and still have factory barrels that perform better than it. It is easily the most finicky barrel I have developed loads for out of 20-25 barrels to compare against. I have one other bullet on the shelf (105 scenar) to try in it to see if it will dazzle and if not I will just live with it the way it is and probably not purchase another of his barrels.

Bob is a nice guy, his turnaround times are good and his prices are competitive however barrels and the associated gunsmithing is too expensive for me to take another run at them.

I know I do not stand alone with this thought on Jury barrels. I also persoanlly know a fella that swears by them and does well in competitive shooting matches with them.

Just my experience, make of it what you will.
 
Google 'Jury Barrels' and you find a face book page... it looks like he does it all... I don't know if he cuts or buttons barrels. I wish he had more info about his barrels and processes online.

You probably will not regret buying that Benchmark. I have 2 on rifles at the moment, and they are superb performers.

That being said, I have a 6mm Bob Jury barrel blank sitting here that I acquired in a multiple item deal. I will probably
give it a go to see how it turns out for me.

I have had 2 other rifles with Benchmark barrels and all have shot great. Might be the guy putting them together for me though, Guntech is a great smith.
 
I agree!! Im not saying Jury barrels are not great I just know from my past experience that Benchmark worked well. I have had one Gaillard, one Smith, one Shillen , one Rock and two Benchmarks in the past. I would buy Benchmark and Shilen again but not the Gaillard, Smith or Rock.

Having a 1:10 jury Remington varmint contour put on my t3 300wsm build, hoping it shoots well, being Canadian made is what mainly persuaded my purchase, we will see how it performs, probably won't see the rifle untill early spring :(

A buddy of mine wanted the 280 custom real bad so he now owns it. I wasnt a fan of the comb on the mcmillan stock so letting it go wasnt hard. I buy and sell guns like i change my underware. Oh by the way your one to talk about buying and selling guns, in fact you probably have a bigger need for gun councelling than I do lol..
 
I just realized (not 100% sure about the Smith barrel) that the barrels I prefered are all button and the ones I didnt like were cut?

Dave, what kind of 'furnace' are planning on putting behind that 6mm BJ barrel?
 
I have to vote a big yes for Jury barrels. I have three of his in various calibres. I also have Benchmark & Kreiger barrels. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend a Jury.
