Hey guys~I've been looking for one of these guns (blued) on and off for something like 15 years, and have maybe seen 1 or 2 in the EE. I've never been much of a lever action fan, but I've always been curious to own a Rossi pump. I dig the look of the short barrel version...so I'm sort of set on getting one of those. Getting one out of the US is always an option, but an expensive one with the exchange and fees.

Do any of you have one? Opinions? Know of a shop in Canada that might have one sitting on the shelf? Would love to know the search and $ might be worth it, they look like fun little plinkers!

thanks,

I had one for many years, found it brand new in a local gun shop who had discovered it in inventory buried in the back room. It was a fun little shooter, certainly as accurate as I was capable of being with open sights; seemed nicely assembled and finished. Mine had occasional feeding problems; bullet noses rode up a bit too high and jammed at the top of the chamber. It was the long barrel model; the short one you're thinking about is much more appealing, IMHO. I even stumbled upon a Rossi-made scope mount for it, but quickly removed it after giving it a trial workout.

Maybe it's because I'm not looking for one, but they don't seem that uncommon to me. Watch the EE and maybe local gun shows, I'm sure you'll find one.

Thanks John. I've only been to a couple of gun shows, but don't tend to seek them out either...with all the negative reports I hear about over-priced items everywhere. Still, it might BE that kind of venue you find one of these. Talk to enough guys outside of web forums and you soon realize there is quite a gun culture in Canada that isn't really online at all.

The regular-length Rossi pumps are nice too, more faithful to the the Winchesters, etc. I've seen photos of these guns with flip-up tang sights..boy they look sharp!

I had a blued Rossi sac in 22lr I found locally and a stainless Taurus in 17hmr both were fun and both got sold shortly after I got them. No issues with either of them both shot great with little to no Ftf or fte. I just don't have enough cash to keep them all.

I think I remember seeing those in the EE, both stuck out for different reasons. I never knew they even made one in 17HMR~cool gun. I was too late to grab that SAC off of you, it was gone by the time I saw the ad.

Keep your eyes peeled for another! ;)

My barrel is 22" on mine. It's my fav rimfire. I've put more than 30 000 rounds thru it and it still looks mint except the reciever is gaining a purplish hue. Even the action bar shows extremely little wear

They're great little rifles. They came in blue, nickel and for a short period... stainless steel. I've been collecting for years and have a number of the SAC as well as the 23" barrel and the octagon barrel model. Not as nice as my Winchester 62As but close. The short barrel are great in the bush. Recently sold a SAC at the Sept. Calgary Gun Show.

Good! So they're out there! :)

Damn i must have missed it. Instead i went home with a blued 62sa.

What does SAC stand for, It sounds like the shorter barreled model but curious on the abbreviation.

Slide Action Carbine

Still no luck tracking down a blued Rossi SAC...and yet some of the more uncommon rimfire rifles are popping-up in the EE allot. Just my luck! lol

I'm telling ya, just decide you don't want one and stop looking for one. Voila! You'll be swerving your car around on the road, trying to dodge the Rossi SAC's falling out of trees and lying on the pavement. :) It works every time!

Ain't THAT the truth! lol My problem is that I usually have 2-3 things high on the "want" list...after an exhaustive search for #1 yields nothing, I buy #2...only to see #1 pop-up in the EE before Canada Post has even delivered #2. (how's that for a confusing sentence? : ) #2 usually consumes enough $ to make buying anything else temporarily impossible. Has happened at least 3 times in the last 3 years.

So yes..you're 100% right! :)
