elevation/turret windage/reticle

Is it common to dial in the elevation and hold for windage on the reticle? How do you guys typically do it. I find more and more I dial for distance and hold for wind

Usually what I do. Bullet drop is constant at a distance while windage is constantly changing so requires constant adjustment.
