He certainly doesn't need a long gun.

What I do know is that I've never been much of a fan of Boddington's writing style, but there is no question that he has hunted all around the world, dozens of times.

LOL,I'm not upset, I just get a chuckle out of the Shockey/Shoemaker professionals. Most true professionals I know are pretty humble.

Well, he's also a fun writer. I read one of his articles on the .375 Ruger where he requested an Alaskan and an African to test during his guiding season. His daughter, who's also a guide, liked the Alaskan so much that Phil ended up sending Ruger a cheque for it.
Maybe so, (I have no idea if this is true) but IIRC he was honest. Didn't like Hogue stock and replaced them with tupperware Ruger stocks. And I am absolutely certain that if he didn't feel the rifles/cartridges performed well, he would have said, thanks, but no thanks. And not written about them at all.
It's not like Shoemaker didn't have other firearm options.
do not forget Taj. he is using also the 375 ruger among others ...
it is only a matter of $ when CB is mentionned ....
so far he promoted the ruger and hornady ammo, mossberg for DG and not that long ago it was the cz550 special CB safari ... in 375hh so Gate choose a rifle or a caliber because you want it or need it not because a so called star is endorsing it in exchange of some green paper ....

i m lucky that i met some of those stars in different areas than forums and i was not that surprised by how they are ...

IIRC he stated that ruger gave him the rifles in one of his articles, but I've been known to be wrong before. He is one of my
Favourite gunwriters, and he even talked me into getting a 375 imposter himself (sold it shortly for an H&H). Pretty hard to fault the ruger Alaskan in any way really. Just playing devils advocate.
