So i am looking to outfit my t97 with a red dot! I am between 2 options. Get it right now: holosun or save up and get an aimpoint t1. Is the t1 as godly as they say? Or is the holosun rugged enough? Also heard vortex makes a decent red dot

Own 4 Vortex, 1 venom, 1 3x and 2 Sparc 2, never a reason to try anything else, tried the cheap stuff, its ok if you want to spend every range visit "zero'ing in, never tried the real expensive stuff because the vortex stuff works

The Aimpoint is excellent, but a Holosun will serve you fine. The aforementioned Vortex RDS are decent value too, as are the Primary Arms offerings from CTCS.

No disresepect, but you're running a T97... Mounting an $800 Aimpoint would be like putting 101 octane racing fuel into a Hyundai Pony.

The T-1/2 is a set it and forget system. Battery life, ruggedness, quality, sharpness of dot, no wash out in bright light etc. makes the Aimpoint a RDS that Mil and LE all over the world depend their life on.
As far as I'm concerned, Aimpoint, Leupold, Trijicon and, yes, even Eotech are the only companies I would mount on a serious rifle.
Vortex, Bushnell, Holosun are all fine but not to the quality of the above. But you get what you pay for.

The t1 will move from t97 to ar and possibly a C7 if i get to a unit where mounting optics is acceptable once i inlist.

You will need a high riser picatinny mount if you move it to an AR with the M4 front sights to co-witness if you use BUIS.
If your T-97 has the FTU, then you may already use the same with the T-97 front sights.

But, yes, the T-1 can be used on the above rifles. You may have to re-zero between the T-97 and the AR but, likely, not between the C7 and any other M4 style AR.

Sparc II's are good.
Been seeing them lately on the EE for around $250 shipped.
Fully transferable, no receipt , lifetime warranty is unique in the red dot world.

Eotech's are excellent for fast shooting. If zeroed for 50 yards, the bottom of the circle is dead on for 7 yard shots. Sold mine only to bump up to a 1-6x.

Big +1 I own most and have owned them all except the 6moa razer. If you have the flat top rail the Sparc AR is fantastic no parts needed comes co witness and the sim to go 1/3 and if you have the raised rail the Sparc 2 or the Venom is the way to go both flat mount so you keep your cheek weld.

Never had to return or fix a vortex yet but if you do you ship them within Canada and they fix replace or if discontinued they upgrade your optic.

Best 250-450$ you will spend and no offence but an 800$ aim point on a 1000$ rifle is a bit of a waste.... save yourself 500-600$ and spend it on ammo and gear. The slight diffrences do not matter in your situation, the vortex will outperform the rifle.

I would get the Holosun, as I don't see it as being worthwhile to spend Aimpoint money on a Type 97.

I haven't run a lot of rounds through it, but the Holosun I put on a shotgun has held up just fine, so far.

Except they don't hold zero, drain batteries for no reason, delaminate and cause reticle fading/disappearing and are not waterproof.

Buy the Aimpoint, you won't regret it and you won't question its performance. You get what you pay for.

You could also consider the Aimpoint H1. It offers all of the quality of the Aimpoint T1, does not have the NV settings, and costs less. Ours are $639 less mount and an ADM QD mount is just over $100

The spark does go through battery's and their not stocked most places , I ordered them in through the source and received in 2 weeks . Saying that I have no other problems you can buy a lot of battery's for the diff between the Aimpoint

I bought a used T1 thats from 2008 and it's fine. Built like a rock, and I'll treat it like a rock. I recommend an aimpoint of some sort man, I don't know why, but electronic sights scare me...better to get the one that won't fail you. And if you're thinking of putting it on a rifle you're going to potentially use in combat, you'd have to be crazy AF to choose anything but Aimpoint or Eotech, and I wouldn't go with an Eotech if I was going to be somewhere cold because according to SOCOM, they don't hold zero in those conditions.

You may even want to consider an aimpoint CompM4 for your gun, seriously, if it could go on a fighting gun you want something tougher than what vortex offers...talk to Calgary Shooting Center or someone in your area. Your life is not a thing to risk for saving $200 on an optic...you can make more money, you can't come back from being dead. Vortex or holosun is fine for plinking, but once you start thinking about an active fighting gun it's an entirely different subject.

I agree with the not holding zero. Maybe I got a bad one but mine always wandered.

Aimpoint, any model. Still rocking the original battery from 2009 on my m3. You will have the aimpoint as long as you want and can switch between rifles. I also have a holosun that i picked up just to try. It works fine and has been on a m14 for a few years. Time will tell but no question on aimpoint. If you dont want to shell out for new keep an eye out on the ee.
