The US guys are jelly of our X95 charging handle. I guess we have the real IDF version![]()
If you are familiar with our TAR-21, this will be easier to explain. Basically the charging pries against the barrel to unlock itself/rotate the bolt initially. The same is true for the proper x95 design, however I believe the US got the TAR-21 (or in their case the SAR-21) design charging handle jerry rigged and pinned straight with no hinge action due to ITAR reasons.
Edward has informed me that this US CH posed some problems on the US Zahal course for doing press checks, etc. as the rifles were having troubles unlocking the bolt slowly for presschecks and then going back into battery afterwords.
Press checks are so " Operator "Glad will be able to operate properly up here you never know when operating will be required.

In those pics the charging handle looks like a......never mind.
Lovie was pretty frigging adamant about us doing our press checks during the course.
I was like its loaded no need to frigging check...
never had a tiny little woman yell at me like that, it was, an experience...
Press check, what's that?
It is to confirm that the rifle actually chambered a round when the charging handle was cycled. Soldiers do it before going out on patrol.
You rack the charging handle then slowly open the bolt just enough to expose the rear of the cartridge in the ejection port. You then press against the cartridge with your index finger, confirming its presence. Let the carrier snap forward, done.
Truly sounds like a waste of time to me![]()
