Hello all, once again I am in the market for a semi auto slug gun and am looking exclusively at the benelli line up. I'm trying first off to decide between the SBE2 and the M2, That being said I am leaning towards the M2. I am also unsure whether or not to go with 12ga or 20ga. I would like to hear from anybody shooting either of these firearms in any regard. Please provide some knowledge on the firearm, accuracy, and real world shooting experience. Also, please add some input on your scope of choice. Thank you in advance with all your knowledge and experience.

I have a sbe2 slug gun 12 gauge with rifled barrel, with a Nikon slug hunter BDC 200 scope.

My experience with this setup has been challenging. I tried over 15 different sabot slugs before finding one that grouped ok. Needless to say I spent a ton of money on slugs and the best result is a 3"+ spread (5 shot group) at 100 yards with 2 3/4" trophy copper sabots. For me this acceptable for hunting but I had much higher expectations. I bought the benelli off CGN with a smoothbore barrel and the slug barrel. I sold my 870 with rifled barrel that would clover leaf at 100 yards to fund a portion of this benelli.

If I was buying a dedicated slug gun again, I'd look for a single shot H&R slug hunter (good luck finding one), or a bolt action savage 212/220 or A-bolt. You'll save money that way outright and likely in ammo costs too for finding the slug it likes.

I'm a big fan of the Nikon slug hunter scope...

I used to hunt with a 12 gauge sx3 rifled.... grouped about 2.5" at 100 yds with hornady SSTs. I since switched to the benelli m2 tac with an aimpoint micro since i dont have a longer shot than 80yds where i hunt. With this gun i can get a 4" group with remington sluggers at 100m ...( good enough for deer) and much cheaper than sabots.
If you stick with the sabots i heard great things about remington copper solids for accuracy
Also try cleaning the barrel between shots and see if that would improve accuracy.

Ya it seems most guns start to lose accuracy after about 5-10 shots the plastic fills the grooves from the sabot.

With groups like that you'll need a semi for multiple follow up shots...kidding I feel your pain.
