HI there, I'm looking for some advice, I did a rattle can paint job on my poly technology AR, now I'm thinking I want to go back to the original finish. What the best way to remove all the paint on my rifle. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

MEK will do the job very well. But it is a very hazardous substance to use in a non-ventilated area!

I removed a rattle can camo finish off a Troy MCS chassis. I tried several different chemicals including paint thinner, lacquer thinner etc. MEK was the only product that would get all of the paint off. It did not harm the anodized finish on the aluminum.

Cheers!

got paint off several firearms even a AR15 plastic stock, I used a ziploc bag the items fit into and after putting parts in add a couple tablespoon full of acetone, it does not take long for the paint to start to lift, not good for anything rubber but works well on solid parts.

Never heard of Poly Technology AR15. Can we see its pics?

I would not use's that in the future, it's not only very toxic but corrosive too.

Sorry, I meant the metal parts. I did that for a few BUIS that were painted, and an upper and a lower, but no plastic bits.

Good thing I used gloves, I thought I was being a bit paranoid.

I don't know how to post pics. It's a Chinese copy of an m4, as far as I know it's made in the same place as Noranco and dominon arms. Just a rebranded Noranco. Works great tho, over 1000 rounds with zero stoppages

Acetone and a bristle scrub brush. Plastic parts don't come very clean depending on what paint you used, but you can always just respray them black.
