And after just 30 min with a T-shirt and some Mothers Mag Polish from Canadian Tire:

I put more time into the cylinder and it's much clearer than the frame. I think I'm going to put another hour in to get it really mirror like.

Indeed! I liked the original finish too. I originally wanted a Nickel Colt Python but the cost was obviously prohibitive for me. After shooting it, and falling in love with it I consided to make it my own so to speak.

That looks awesome, MuthaFunk, they really look high end now! The only concern I'd have is shooting on a bright sunny summer day if there's no roof over the firing line...I might do
that with my stainless wheel guns but maybe skip polishing the top strap.

I thought the top straps on the 686 (If that's what this is?) were serrated for this exact reason?

The whole top of the gun is ribbed and flat on either side of it to reduce reflections. It may blind you off the side when it's on the table in front of you though.

And yes, yes, YES, finger prints show like crazy. The truth is it doesn't bother me, you could see prints even with the old finish, just not as much. It wipes clean quick enough with a microfiber cloth.

Yes, I know, but if you polish the top of the serrated strap it'll be shiny and glare a bit...my idea is to leave the top strap completely alone...

Fair. Polishing the serrations might look a little odd anyways... Besides being completely counter intuitive, lol.

I have a pair of Ruger Bisley Vaquero Stainless Steel revolvers that came from the factory polished, to look like they are nickeled, I used to shoot Cowboy Action.
