Trap: how do you guys do it?

Hahahaha. Bound to get some attention at the club. ;)

I've seen the average age of trap club members, no thanks.

I'll just quietly wear my evo shirt under something, and carry on.

I was thinking more for the girlfriend. Thanks for the encouraging words fellas but I have no need or desire to explore my feminine side. It's hard enough finding stuff in my size as a male never mind going to the other team's side and that colour would clash with my shooting vests!! ;)

Does it come with matching panties?! ;)

I thought they came with a purse?? Maybe that was just a flash sale or something?
I have to confess, when I shot my 20 gauge Lightning (no recoil pad at all) for more than 50 rounds, I tucked a piece of neoprene wetsuit material in the vest pocket, made quite a difference. That's the problem with lightweight guns.

Being able to shoot hundreds of rounds comfortably is a result of not only gun fit and light target loads, but also proper shooting form. Many newer shooters lean away from the gun instead of leaning into it, so their body cant roll with the recoil. And as shooters become tired, their form becomes progressively worse.

The picture below shows very poor form.http://1.bp.########.com/-AwBcllbmMLY/T9wN6lzHjeI/AAAAAAAAAF8/ayd_8hzG8ew/s1600/spring+time+015.JPG

Yup, very true.

If your right handed, get that left foot out in front of you, and get your shoulders close to overtop of that knee. It'll feel uncomfortable at first.

When you start don't bother trying to draw the shotgun from your waist. Start with it mounted properly on your shoulder, looking RIGHT down the rail - meaning you shouldn't see any of it.

Swing through, be fluid. Remember this isn't f-class target shooting, this is like throwing and catching a football, orna one-timer on the ice.

First few rounds I shot was with a single shot Rossi 12g. Light as hell and kicked like a mule! Left me sore for 3 days with about a 4 inch round bruise. Switched up to my Mossy 500 (heavier gun) with a recoil pad using same 2 and 3/4 target load shells and I can shoot it all day with no soreness or bruising. Like day and night.

I have googled Evoshield and Shooter Shield looks interesting but I can/t figure out where to see or buy one. Does anybody close to you sell them, where did you buy yours?

Try this:

EvoShield Protective Recoil Shooting Shirt, Olive (X-Large, Right) https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0062AYCLU/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_1KXnybH885SNE

$213 for a t-shirt???? Just pick up a shooting vest. Even cheap Browning vests have provision for shoulder pads, if you need it. If the gun fits, you likely won't need the extra pad anyway, and you'll have pockets to hold your shells.

I have built in recoil eliminators on both my singles gun - Bt-99, and my doubles gun - Citori. They work very similar to a shock absorber in that they allow the gun to move backwards an inch or two under recoil. They also adjust so that the gun is level when shouldered to your own specification. Just taking up trap again after retiring. Last year of active shooting fired over 5000 rounds, won the Pacific Northwest Handicap Championship and the Edmonton Open so I beleive they work very well and you can shoot singles, doubles and handicap both days of a weekend with no shoulder soreness. If you are serious in pursuing trap it is worth considering.

What type of gun and loads were you using?

Proper stance, a gun that fits, lighter 12 gauge loads, a heavier gun, a proper recoil pad, padded shooting vest all contribute to reducing the impact of felt recoil. Years of practice help too. ;)

I hate to say it, but this post is all you need to know about what you asked about.
