ACR FTE / Stove pipes

It flings it about 2-3 o'clock without the brass deflector

It does scratch my receiver , here's a picture someone took of me, you can see the scratches

Just scratching? No dents or anything? I mean, I'll never get rid of the rifle because it's my dream firearm but I would like it to last a long long time!

Hahaha, if on the suppressed setting, won't it not cycle the bolt? What about the H/L gas setting Bushmaster has been giving out in the states? I emailed them in hopes they could enlighten me.

trust me on this, its a dlask fack up
heres how mine shoots perfectly, yes it is on the S setting.

dlask reverses the gas settings, i had a biatch of a time figuring it out as well

On my dlask barrel S is regular, U is the suppressed setting

so next time you take it shooting, put it on the S setting like mine, and tell me how she does.

Wow I have to try that also

Ha! Are you kidding me? It'll cycle on S because they effed up the gas port? Son of a

yep, put it on S, if you still have a problem bro ill dig out a bcm spring and o ring for you, i think i might have a spare.

RC30, if youre in burnaby south we can meet at safeway on mcbride if you need a bcm spring and o ring.

While on the U setting my ACR was acting exactly like yours, even with the bcm spring and o ring
I put it on S just for the heck of it and wham, brass ejecting like a rocket

Dude, wow. You are a godsend if this works. I'll still throw in that wolff spring. Was 10$ and maybe I can peg my buddy when he stands there, right next to the port!

Yah mine was cycling real slow and stovepiping on U, tried all sorts of things, ven tried to get the h/l gas, was about to pull my hair out then I put it on S and voila.
Its a dlask fack up, but whatever im not going to argue with dlask on the phone, it eorks perfectly on S so thats that. I imagine all other dlask barrels are done the same.
i wrote a thread about it about 2 years ago I think.

Yeah, I should have spent more time using the search but I did go through the ACR MEDIA AND INFO thread. Even checked the ACR forums and on there, they were sent replacement gas regs but they were using stock barrels. I just love my ACR and hate seeing it struggle. Poor gun getting all chewed up. On a side note, I just installed my new VG6 Epsilon and wow! It's even more fun to shoot!

mine has the pws fsc 556 on it, its on the picture
best. muzzle device, i have it on all my 556 guns

I just re watched some 240 fps slow motion of it cycling and it seems really rapid... I'm going to try and see if I can attach it here... Don't laugh at my bipod, it failed shortly after that session...

nah that eject is weak, it lands at your elbow
trust me mine goes 20 feet 90 degree flat out on S
hey give it a try it might be that simple
if not put in the spring and o ring

You bet I will! I have a reason to get out there now! Thanks a lot for your help Mike, your knowledge and experience with this platform and sharing it with us is awesome! High five bud!

Having it work well on S would mean that Dlask didn't know shi t about the ACR and just drilled the gas port like they were building an AR barrel. The gas system on the ACR requires less gas than an AR which would mean your rifle is overgassed which is why the S setting would work since it reduces the amount of gas acting on the piston in order to compensate for the increased back pressure of a suppressor.
That's disappointing since it means they didn't do any R&D and just jumped into the game to make a quick buck without making sure the product they were selling actually functiond correctly.
My Questar 223 barrel (Wylde chamber and 8 twist) runs perfectly, it's too bad they don't sell them anymore, my 6.8SPC barrel also came from them and it's running well now that I figured out a bolt and extractor for it. My 300BLK barrel is a custom I had made and I drilled the gas port myself through trial and error opening it up slowly till it would cycle my supersonic and subsonic handloads nicely without being overgassed.

I hope Mike's suggestion gets your rifle running nicely. I'm on my second ACR and have found it to be an extremely reliable and accurate rifle.

Oh man cr5, I'd love to get some more barrels and a different load I can shoot, 6.8 would be my next choice.

I do agree that it would be a disappointment if they really did just throw it together without really taking the time to make things right. I was unable to get out today unfortunately but I hope I can tomorrow to test it out. I just took my optics off, cleaned the gun entirely and now need to re zero my scope so I have 2 excuses lol. I really need to get a P.E.P.R so I can tinker and clean and not have to worry about re sighting in.

Although this might be a pita, I'm surprised how accurate this rifle can be, even with cheap factory loads.

100 Yards, prone no bipod.

Well well well... Mike, you sir are my hero! I slapped that gas regulator to S and low and behold, NO FTE / STOVE PIPE! 40 rounds no problem and they were flying to my 4 o'clock!

This is just fantastic! I did order that wolff spring and maybe should have held off but I'll slap her in there and fling that brass even further.

While I'm glad it works - it makes no sense to me.

Unless I'm crazy, the gas port on the gas plug is what defines the volume of gas entering the piston. 'S' should have a SMALLER port, making the weak cycling even worse. I don't understand how the Dlask barrel could reverse this situation?

Does that mean the port on the Dlask barrel is too big, or too small, or? I've never had an 'overgassing' situation, but my thinking is it would result in violent extraction, not weak/FTE symptoms.

I honestly don't know how they could mess that up but after firing it on the S setting, it wasn't just tossing the brass, it was flinging it a lot further than on the U setting. Maybe it was over gassed and the BCG was catching the brass before it could fully exit the port? Cycling too fast?

I agree on your deduction that an over gassed situation would cause extreme extraction but it's working great now. Very odd...
