Looking for a plinker but I do not want a sks, and would love your thoughts since the ammo is cheep and all I will use it for is taking out friends.

Sheesh. I hope none of my "friends" are shopping around for just the right gun to "take me out" with.
 
Before you decide on the M85, just double check with Canada Ammo as they had batches that had issues with light primer strikes on surplus ammo. They were supposed to get replacement parts to fix the issue.

They have Wolff extra power firing pin springs in stock now.
Guns aren't too bad, action is pretty rough, inletting is terrible, trigger can be tuned up if you know what you are doing. I bought one when they had them on for $375, probably wouldn't buy another.
 
Nothing beats SKS for plinking. Reliable, cheap to acquire and feed. And don't forget a folding bayonet useful for waking up your friends.

Also can go full-bubba with tapco and archangel parts.
 
First time plinking with an SKS:

Cleaning afterward:

Hmm. I need a big tub or something... how do i get this little doohickey out? Shart. I got fouling on my mouse trying to find that youtube video. OK... if I push that thing any harder it's going to break... Farking thing... holy shart, it's already rusty?!?

Second time plinking with an SKS:

Dude, take it easy! Dave! Last mag, Dave. Yes, it's just an expression. Hey, you coming to my house to clean that thing?

Cleaning afterward:

Fark this shart. What the fark?!? Whose idea was this shart?!?

Third time plinking with an SKS:

Oops. Bought an AR. Fark you, SKS.

Cleaning afterward:

Ow. Shart, these caps aren't twist off! Darn hipster beer.

Just shoot non corrosive and only clean every case or so :)
