What is that thing on Scandinavian hunting rifles - looks like a silencer ?

In Sweden they are called a ljuddämpare, Norwegian is lyddempere. In finnish it's probably something with a million vowels with the odd consonant thrown in.

LOL. Yeah. I once changed the cell phone language setting of a friend to Finnish. He had a lot of fun to find his way back to English (in the days when cell phones menus were text only, no icons).

:)

Lyd Demper it is. lyddempere is plural... Very common in Norway, what is not to like about it. Saves you hearing, unfortunately the laws in Canada think it makes rifles completely silent like in the movies.

Another common brand is Shultz and Larsen.

Dritt. They were just legalized in Sweden. None of my relatives have them yet. Would love to try one out.

I wish it was mandatory here. As residential areas encroach on rural areas it really would help with our image as hunters to do away with that obnoxious boom and crack. Also preserve a little hearing.

I know that county Durham as well as any other but know very little about the firearm regulations of that country. I do know supressors are used legally.

This is just one example I have seen over the years where different and contradictory laws will be implemented in different countries so long as they will be accepted by the majority of the population.

In Britain its a pain to own guns and hard to find somewhere to shoot but getting a suppressor is relatively easy.

By comparison in Canada we can own firearms relatively easily but if we want to act like civilised human beings and shoot quietly then NO that is illegal.
