Hey guys,

just wanted some opinions on the accuracy of your TAR 21 or the X95. Watched a video with Iraq veteran 8888 where he and another shooter were having a friendly competition and it appeared the x95 started to walk in accuracy. They accredited it to over heating barrel.

One thing that has always got me about my Tavor is the thin profile of the barrel. would a thicker wall improve accuracy or is there more going on as far as part of the Tavor having contact with the barrel?

I'll take 3 MOA light barrel over 1 MOA and heavier profile barrel.

Tavor is designed for CQB and does an excellent job for that application. Heck if we didn't have the stupid NR rules I'd go for a shorter barrel.

the front upper and lower handguard on the TAR/SAR-21 rest on the barrel. The CH also is designed so that it contacts the barrel. Both of these things are design issues if accuracy is the main thing you wish to eek out the platform.

Then on the x95 it appears that there are 2 rubber washers/gaskest at the front and rear of the handguard that likely hamper harmonics.

Hey Copeland...trying to PM you back but your storage allocation is full and won't allow my message to send. Need you to clear out some messages!!! Cheers, Shooster.

You can go heavier. Balanced or not the tavor is already a portly rifle. The tavor is a minute of man accurate. And correct me if I'm wrong but the tavor isn't free floated. That might also have some effect. The major factor is the barrel and action. Long stroke piston guns aren't known for accuracy. And the tavors barrel seems to be built for durability over outright accuracy.

And which combo works? If any?

Thanks

They are interchangeable, however the pry stop on the Tar21 barrel for the CH is not found on the x95 barrel. The x95 handguard wont clear that pry stop, so either dremal the HG or remove the pry plate.

I cant recall how the x95 barrel fits in the Tar21, but it may be that the lack of the sling hole in the gas system presents a problem with the forward sling mount that secures the upper handguard on the Tar21.
