Hi Guys,

Moderators, I apologize if this should be in the "Ammo" forum. I'm sure that you'll boot it over to there if this is the wrong place. But this topic seemed so rimfire-specific that it seems like a better place to start.

I haven't seem them fast/big Velocitor cartridges in ages.

Simply put ... are they gone?

Perfect in my jewel-like little Model 34 Kit Gun ... some incremental oomph, and the .38-spec J-frame just obviously shrugged-it-off.

But I obviously had to tweak the Leupold on my Anschütz gopher-rifle whenever I was treating-myself to Velocitors.

I still have a few hundred.

Prescient ... :)

Where are you located? Boatoads around my area (Eastern Ontario) at about 10 or 11 cents/round. Not cheap, but available.

Real flood of .22LR in general, Remington, Winchester, Federal, Eley, RWS, Geco, Sellier & Bellot, Aguila, and more variety or CCI than I've seen in years, including the Small Game Bullet (SGB) which I'd never laid eyes on in person until recently. Again, for a price.

I have 2 bricks and would buy more if they were at a reasonable price. I actually had a TOZ 12 that would shoot them into less than 1/2" at 50 yds.Sometimes a ragged hole.
Scott...

The last time I was in Wholesale Sports (Langley, B.C.) they had quite a good stock and I bought 3 or 4 boxes but that was some time ago. I've not seen them in the local (Abbotsford) Cabela's. They certainly sem to be one of the best rounds for hunting. Worked on a marauding coyote with this fall with my CIL/Anschütz 310. The other "hunting" round I haven't seen for a really long time is the CCI SGB (Small Game Bullet), which is a 40 gr. solid but with a flat meplat.

As mentioned above, it would be useful if the OP gave his location. :)

CCI Velocitors? I bought a couple of boxes not that long ago, can't remember where. I've yet to try them though..my CZ is sitting out in gopherland. :)

^question... Wondering if you think that flat meplat has/had anything to do with their effectiveness? I have a Waltz resizing tool I use to turn CCI Blazers in to econo gopher disassemblers, but, I only ever use the hollow-pointing tool. The other tip in the kit puts a flat meplat on the bullet and I've wondered how it would work...and why? How (assuming it does) does it make it a more effective hunting round? Bigger wound channel?
