WHat is the best retail price you've seen on a 92FS?

I have seen them on the EE for $400-$600

Passed one up at $400 one time, came with a full replacement of internal parts.... just scratched all up from being used for 50,000 rounds or so.

I should have bought it....

If you want new, go for it.... but for that gun I would not hesitate to buy used either.

All I know for sure is that mag release is in a different position. heard magazines are different also. Anyone confirm?

yea, one is a heel release, the later one is up on the side- there is or may be a difference in the LOCKING BLOCKL, which a MAJOR bone of contention in all but the latest of 92s( plural) ie get one and you know going in you'll have to replace this part
as to which is better, if you're used to a 1911 the one with the release up on the body is the better choice- muscle membory and all that- on the other hand , if you've got nothing but heel catch pistols , then you won't notice the difference- I have both, and i'm trying to get fid of the heel catch model= it works like this- 92 had the safety on the frame, 92s has the safety as a interupped firing pin on the slide- 9s2b and on have the mag release on the frame- the mags for the 92sb and on - some work on the 92s, some don't depends if the hole for the heel catch is there

The trigger guard is squared off or hooked on the F and FS (it's round on the S and SB), the FS has a pin in the frame to stop the slide from coming free in a catastrophic failure, in response to an incident with a 92F in the trials to replace the 1911.

The SB introduced the ambidextrous safety; the S only has a safety on the left side. The F also changed the trigger angles.

If you want a cheap 92 go with the girsan. If you do some research you will find that they are made with the same tools and quality but different location. They cost less for the same quality. Unless you want "Berretta" stamped on it for 200-300 bucks then ignore this post

Yeah the Girsan or Taurus both come recommended but I figure I'll save my pennies and get the name brand for my first pistol. After that all bets are off
