I can see myself hunting in the future but Im clueless as to what to use. All I have right now that kind of fits the bill is an old SKS but that aint gonna cut it.
I`m also gonna get into the long range game which Ive narrowed down to either a Ruger Precision Enhanced or a Savage Stealth, this will either be in 308 or more likely 6.5. From handling both guns I would say that the Savage would probably be a good hunting gun due to the weight but Im leaning towards the Ruger which I feel is more of a bench rest gun as its quite weighty in comparison.
I should also say that I have heard somewhere that only certain calibers are suitable for hunting but I have no clue which so some pointers would be helpful
Here are my thoughts with an explanation of my logic:
H&K SL8 - I have an itch for an H&K and these are supposed to be super accurate, it would also tick off the 308 box in my collection as I currently do not own one
Tavor - I like the aesthetics of the Tavor and I really like the compact bullpup configuration, supposed to be good quality too. Not sure if I would go for the last Gen regular Tavor or the new X95 variant and also not sure on which caliber (223 or 5.56 - is there a difference?)
XCR-L - Could get it in 7.62x39 which would be cheap to run, again I like the aesthetics of the gun particularly in Keymod
XCR-M - I like the looks and while its not as compact as some of my other choices it seems like a good bet and again ticks the 308 box
Thoughts?
