7.62x39 ar bolt recommendations

When you look at how much material is removed and what is left for the bolt lugs on a 7.62 bolt to work with what was designed as a 5.56 extension, the extra cash spent on the LMT bolt may change your mind.
Having said that, I have a PSA upper as well and it is working just fine.

While I do agree with you, the goal of this build was to be about 600$ ish netting parts mostly from the EE. so far so good, but that LMT would KILL my budget on this build. I did see that MGI boot from brownells so I may need to do some research on it.
 
will it make the build cheeper if you have to replace the cheep bolt that blows apart after 300 rounds with an expensive one for the second go around? just sayin. with AR 39 bolts you want the best one you can find. as has been said, when you have one in your hands and look at how thin it is once its opened up for 39, youll wonder if you should be putting it up by your face and pulling the trigger.

I do see what your saying and i do agree. The majority of my kit is on the higher end of things. Its just a nut kicker when you planned a cheap budget shooter, only to have to spend 300$ on a bolt. If it were a full bcg then its not so bad, but 300$ on a bolt alone is a hard pill to swollow.
 
Take a look at the JP 6.5 Grendel bolt they're crazy nice. Once again, that'll typically be a brownells purchase.

Just get 2 NEA bolts if you are on the budget. Gen2, which i saw personally, looks solid.

Regarding PWS bolts, I only saw their piston 7.62 (is there any DI rifles in 7.62x39 from PWS?). Their piston bolt doesn't have o-rings and have a return spring on the tail.
 
Yeah, I would RUN, not walk away from NEA...or buy NEA and use the savings to buy yourself a vintage hockey mask to shoot with.G:G:

Just keep in mind the NEA bolt has a larger OD than other 7.62x39 bolts and only works with NEA barrels.

Have to be careful since most 6.5 Grendel bolts are slightly different than a 7.62X39 bolt. Although the bolt face is the same, AA when developing the Grendel went to a deeper bolt face recess of about .136" vs the more common .124 ( similar to 5.56 bolt face depth )

AA went with the deeper bolt face depth to , along with other advantages more beef in the extractor cut

To add to confusion, barrel makers such as Black Hole Weaponry has coined the term Type 1 ( .124 ) vs Type 2 ( .136 ) Grendel bolts / headspace . Not universal nomenclature BTW

For example , the 6.5CSS ( similar to 6.5G ) uses the shallower .124 bolt . The 264 LBC uses the depper .136 bolt

A true Grendel bolt in a 7.62X39 will cause excessive headspace and will barely touch ( an already fussy to ignite ) the primer . I tried BTW with a primed brass

A 7.62X39 bolt in a true 6.5 Grendel will not close
