There are no more VZ 858's in stock anywhere in Canada, and no Norinco 81's either (only Tactical Imports is taking 'preorders' for 81's). Are VZ858's more reliable than Norinco 81's?

they are pretty much the same gun and same price. i would get the CZ just because we know more about it and parts are around and you might get a good deal on one. plus like bigrobb said you can get it in .223 if you want.

I predict it'll be a very long time before the type 81 gets here, production has been shelved due to military contracts. You best bet is to buy a CSA vz58 or used Cz of the EE.

As a chinese
I had a couple chance to shoot 81- and Chinese SKS

The my result:
81- about 6 MOA
SKS about 7.5 MOA

I am bad at iron sight, I can shot my SKS with 4x scope about 2-4 MOA, so I would like to say 81- is at least more accurate than SKS.

I just did a little research. Based on the inspection report of both rifle in Chinese military.
81-was able to shoot R50=3.9cm, SKS was able to shoot R50=4.7cm, Chinese AK47 Type 56 shoots R50=over 6cm. (Iron sight)
R50 is a different way to measure accuracy, R50 : MOA =1:6

CZ858 : I can easily do 3-4moa at 100m topped with a red dot (no bench just prone). Part kits are still somewhat available and its a reliable platform with a proven track record in Canada.

Type81: the only ones that have info/hands on on it is TI and all the have posted so fare is a 30 seconds videos of mag dumps and barely any info on the rifle or production. It needs to be produced first then shipped to Canada and compared side by side with the 858.

Buy an 858 if you want/can and dont hold your breath for the Type81... After 4 minutes the human body suffers permanent brain damage from lack of air :p

Also, its made by the norinco/polytech/chinese: they are capable of the best and the worst: T97, M305, CQ-A, CQ-B and DA556... Some run flawlessly, some are pieces of junk but we'll have to wait and see. The new due delivery is "winter" so Dec 21st until March 20th.

I thought West Rifle was coming out with their own rifle WR762 made in Canada similar to the cz vz 58

So this thing is dead in the water ?

PT

No, probably just similar to the Famae pre-order disaster they arranged. Their order is too small for the Chinese to give a #### so it will be bumped until some other bigger Canadian company with a working relationship with China puts in a substantial order... like North Sylva, CanAm etc.
Then we will get lots and lots of these guns, cheaper then the pre-order price, 8 months to a year before TI ever gets their order in.
Same thing happened with the Famae's, that's why these pre-production pre-orders are a #### show.
