Case/bag for Norinco T97

The T97 barely fits.. but thats the way I like it! No oversized cases or bags for my firearms!

Im hoping to sew in some padding and straps to make it more functional and protect my Norc.

hahaha, nice use of the snowshoe bags. if the granolas that work at mec knew how their mec branded snowshoe bag was really being used, it would spin them right out of their safe zone. yes, i know all about their safe zones as i worked at mec for a year, they were really anti hunting, anti gun, etc but over the course of the year, i managed to take several of them to the range where they all had a good time and moved a bit out of their anti everything, safe zone mentality..... a win for everyone

Nice! Mine came in a few days ago and I'm planning on doing the same thing as you. It seems like a good bag but some padding and straps would go a long way to make it more functional for my intended purposes.

Nice! Post your progress because I'm still not 100% sure the way to go.. or how I'll do it

It might be a while as this is something that will be done as a project over the winter. I'm thinking of finding some type of stiff but relatively plyable material to line the inside of the case so that it holds its shape. Then getting some cheap egg carton type foam from Walmart or a craft store to line that with. Then sewing in some velcro straps to hold the rifle in place inside the case. It's going to take a while because going to shop around and see what I can find and how expensive things will be. My budget for this is 50$ tops. The goal to is make a good, solid case for under 100$ total. Preferably much cheaper than that. If I can't do it for that kind of money then it's not worth it as you can buy good soft cases for not much more.

My Bags All done. been working on it on and off for the past 3 weeks. Got a 1970's sewing machine to do this and future projects... The first big project so hopefully it gets better from here.

Mods:
- Velcro Loop Patches on the top
- Moved one loop strap and added top loop for backpack straps (will reinforce padding later)
- Added Velcro loop on top and bottom (insides)
- Added internal foam padding/panels all around for protection and stiffness of the bag.

I still have to make the hook parts to hold the rifle and accessories onto the top and bottom of the insides.. but the hard part is done...

That looks awesome! Great job.
Mine will stay plain and non-padded because I am far more lazy than you.
