What Twist and What Bullet to Use In 22-250 For Deer?

I just prefer to leave mysterious questions and hidden innuendo to women....... deciphering codes, etc just isn't my thing.....

Being an internet warrior ranks low on my list of ambitions......... I guess it all comes with being a straigh shooter......

I shot so straight on this one it hit you on the nose. That's why it's funny and I don't see the point in keeping on.

Sometimes you just gotta walk away; nothing Internet or warrior about it. If I want to pick a fight I'll pick it.

There are those that do and those that just talk about it on the Internet.

Most deer are shot with snow on the ground in open areas. The opposite is true for black bears and that makes for difficult tracking.
Bears have long hair and a thick layer of fat in fall, they can navigate the thickest cover with amazing speed.
A 300lb fall bear isn't unusually large by any stretch. That would be an average 3-4 year old male.

Ok, well in BC and AB were people travel long distances to shoot bears and we think 300lb bruins are big. There are some that can double that but most folks try and hold out for it. We find 300lbers but they aren't common.

And I've shot a fair lot of deer and I'd say more were not on snow than were and can run thru bush as fast as a bear. That's why bears don't just run them down like cheetahs.
The fat and hair thing I do understand and it's a good point but I'd use a 22-250 with a 60gr Partition or the .243 AI load I mentioned anywhere I'd use a 130gr in a .270 under 250yds.

I'm wondering now if I need to skip over to Manitoba to hunt these monster bears. I've already got a 19+" skull.

Lmao... how does a guy that uses a 338 win mag in a Rem platform, based on your handle, claim transparency?.... especially when offering advice on sub quarter bores?...

Btw, experience is important...... but you better have lots before you make a declariation....

Straight up = I am chasing this game and this is the rifle/caliber I am using........

You aimed for the spine and you hit it?....... if so, kudos..... it certainly wasn't a boiler room shot.....

If you aimed for the boiler room and missed and hit the spine with your storm trooper gun then I am happy for you that you got lucky........

I've weighed a lot of bears. Most weigh less than what hunters estimate, but that's because they're a pain to handle and there's not much to hold onto.
In spring, a 3 year old will only go around 175-200 here but by mid Sep. they'll be pushing 300. Long hibernation, but that would
be the same for most areas of AB, SK and NW Ontario.
I personally think that bears are best shot with big heavy bullets that leave big exit holes. It makes everything after much simpler.

This is so funny it hurts. I've yet to have someone shoot so straight they wrap themselves up in this three time over talking circles.

I've owned at least 150 different rifles in .17 to .50 caliber since I started shooting. I've owned the spectrum of makers here and gone. WTF should my name be?

In the last 3 seasons I've used 5 different rifles in that many cartridges to kill big game let alone varmints. Want those details?

This didn't even make sense.

Common denominators in all of them. Weird.

I've been drinking to kill my cold tonight so I'm weak. Normally I'd have stepped back and watched by now.

Good for you on your rifle ownership....... yet to see any insight or experience from you....... you haven't seen anyone shoot yet?.... why use 5 different rifles when a 22-250 will do the trick for all?...... just curious....

Lame......all we have for proof is an accidental spine shot from Clarke........ you got something better?......

Like every person that's painted themselves into a corner you've reduced yourself to terrible generalizations. And failed reading comprehension. Then reduced yourself to generalizations again.

I don't expect people to.share their experience with me if I'm being ignorant and not listening and I expect the same. I said I've used the .22's on deer.

Thank your village from all of us; it was mighty kind of them to lend you for a laugh.

I am listening....... and willing to learn...... and completely open to how a 22 centerfire is a big game cartridge.... please educate me.... as a member of the ignorant masses, I would certainly appreciate it and lots of info on load data...... that would be awesome..... Certainly accidentally spine shot animals don't count........ or do they?

I have 1:7 twist in a 22-250 and have a pretty good load with the 70gmx. I haven't had a chance to use it on deer yet but I don't see there being any problem with that combo ethically or otherwise. The biggest downfall to using .22's is they bleed energy really fast due to low BC's

Still waiting for your pics and experiences.......... until then, you are just another talking head......
