Rock island armory 10/22 clone not coming outta stock.

I had a very tight barrel in my 10/22. I stripped the whole thing so I could reach the breach side of the barrel through the main body. With the main body support on a heavy table I used a brass punch to tap the barrel free. The brass punch won't marr or damage the barrel. I had to give it a good whack to get it started but as soon as it moved a mm and the seal was broken it came free. The two different metals are seized together via galvanic corrosion. The chemical reaction from placing dissimilar metals together. You will probably see some white dust on both surfaces, clean them well and use a small amount of anti seize compound. A little goes a long way. Hope this helps

The OP is trying to remove the barreled action from the stock, not the barrel from the action.............

Are you the original owner ?

If not is it possible someone glued the barreled action to the stock.

Freezing the entire rifle may contract the metal enough to remove it.

Go to your hardware store and purchase a 2" or so 1/4 x20 fine thread bolt. (thats the thread size of your receiver bolt) Thread it into the reciever and tap on it carefully .

New rifle, bought it at wholesale on sale. Maybe ill try freezing thing first.

I recently took one apart. Same thing, very tight in the stock. Gentle but firm pressure finally brought it out.

I got one from WSS too. I own a Ruger as well but it's been a long time since I had it apart. I thought the barrel and action would pull apart evenly from the stock but it pivots at a point at the back of the action. I was able to reef on the barrel and the front of the stock (it was tight) but it did come apart. Once the front of the barrel and stock are separated pull the barreled action forward and it should come out.

If there are any non-RIA bashers willing to respond I would like to know if the barrel has any play in the action or if it's supposed to be tight? I just had a quick look and put it back together- I will assume tightening the V-block should fix?
