To All My Liberal Friends:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2017, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make Canada great. Not to imply that Canada is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only country in the Western Hemisphere . Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or ###ual preference of the wishee.

In line with the festive season, some of the local CGNers and yours truly had an enjoyable lunch and visit with Why not?, Ted Wagner, while he was visiting here on the island. It was great to see him and have a chat session with him.



And, combining the season with my favorite big game animal, here's this years lawn decoration, ;) the Merry ChristMoose.

 
Thanks, Johnn. I was wondering when "Mr Christmoose" would be making an appearance on CGN this year.

And for those already feeling the effects of SSD (Seasonal Stress Disorder), here's an old article from The Economist that shows this is hardly new; it even affected the ancient Romans. (ps- for those of you whose Latin is a little rusty, the title of the article means "Nothing new under the sun.")
