That is one of the issues - the only "source" for Winchesters is Browning Canada (spread amongst half a dozen distribution centers in Canada).
The stock levels at the one that I deal with (Montreal) doesn't have a variety at all. Unless I order up front (this time of year for delivery in the third quarter) it really is a coin toss if you can get something you are after.
The rep I deal with is pretty good for everything "Browning" (will bring it in from Utah if they have stock - usually takes 6 to 8 weeks) but they are not so keen on even looking for Winchester products - get the impression "if they don't have it in stock in Canada, wait for the placing order".
I did order a few Alaskan's last year and they never showed up.
This year (2017 orders) all the Safari Grades (or Safari Super Grades - can't quite remember now) were crossed off the "available" list for ordering.
If you want something in particular you really need to order it now from a Browning dealer (and a full line dealer has a better shot of getting what you want) then sitting back and waiting. And if it doesn't show up by August or September, try again next year.
That's about the level of "customer service" you seem to get from Browning Canada when dealing with Winchester orders. To be fair though they are probably at the mercy of the US market themselves. If there isn't enough for domestic sales they sure aren't packing them up and sending them north...
