I thought I would ask if there was such a thing as a butt pad extention that was available for the russian sks back in the day when they were issued and if so are they available? I would like to be able to still access the butt stock cleaning kit and believe I have seen them for the yugo sks's but not sure. Would one fit from a yugo? Thought I would ask before putting an ad in the ee. If you know where I can source one or even a commercial one that still allows access to the butt stock cleaning kit let me know. Thanks in advance!

There's rubber ones available on EBay and the like... cheap and effective to increase length of pull by 2 or 3".
And you can just pull them off to get at the kit if you want. I've got one - helps.

I used to sell factory Chinese 1 inch extensions on the EE until recently. Some may remember the product. Supply problems kept me from restocking for a while, but will be resuming sales soon. Keep your eye on the Milsurp parts EE for when they reappear!
I really like the UTG the best compared to a few others I have used. It doesn't allow you to access the cleaning kit, but any modern cleaning kit is miles ahead of what is in the buttstock, so I don't really see why you need to access it, but if you really wanted to you could just drill or cut a hole in the middle of it and it would let you get to it.

HiCal in Mission stocks SKS butt pads - I bought a few and I just slip it on; therefore you can still access the cleaning kit if needed.

I got the butt pad extension from Amazon 2" version and just put it over top of the steel buttplate when I reassembled my rifle after cleaning. In the field it's great cause you have a rubber cushion to rest on stuff and it fits tighter/sturdier than a slip on recoil pad. It did not fit perfectly out of box and required some adjustment of the holes to make it light up to the factory installed screw hikes/plate but was easy to do with a drill in my case or file if your so inclined

It has the leather loops. May also be listed as Mosin, svt , m38/m44 sling. True mosin/svt slings are longer. A M38/44 sling is the right length for SKS. Has canvas or leather strapping with leather loops that go thru the swivels instead of the clip on hooks that come with your SKS/AK slings.
