Well just bought myself a Ruger SR 1911.
Congrats, great choice for the $$$ - very happy with my own. And it does it's part, when I do mine - 10M standing, off hand, target below:

Nice
Come on weather warm up I'm itching to get out.
LoL did you have any chances to shoot your SR1911 yet?
Couples years ago, I made the same educated call among all the other nice and valuable suggestions.
First thing I did was soften the "sharp" edges on the trigger. I kept it bone stock.
It ain't tight, it rattles a little but it shoots right just like those our vet grandpas had.
The front sight snapped on mine, sent to local service center, repaired for free and returned all this within 10days...
Try that with a Springfield.
Report back once the weather allows you to enjoy it.
Ok finally got out last week and gave it a run through.
First impression I like it. shoots well and fed everything I put through it.
Fits nice in my hand and can get a good grip. I also brought my G21 sf out. Although the Ruger shot nice and felt great I still prefer my Glock.
Not sure at this point if it's a keeper. I think I now know I am not a 1911 style guy.
Most would say SACRILEGE but I'm with you. I've shot 1911s for 30 years but I love my Glock more.
The thing that sealed it for me is comparing the disassembly of the two and the cleaning time it takes. No brainer there.
A used sig scorpion would be a good choice. Usually around $1100 on EE.
Save a little and get a Dan Wesson heritage

Looks like a nice pistol for the money.
Still alive...that is sacrilege....'ban him they say'....
I guess the tear down is much quicker...although that said..pretty sure my p320 and Canik break down equally as fast and you don't have to dry fire the Canik.
