A couple of weeks ago, I posted a poll asking what I should use for boar - 45-70, 44 mag., or 12 gauge slugs. Here are the results for 45-70. Love how the 1895 looks like a toy! the pig would disagree, though. I posted the photo to the original poll, but the poll is expired, so I guess the thread is too?

What bullet weight did you use,Papaclaud? How much damage to the meat?

It was a handload, 350 gr. RN (Hornady, I think). It was a head shot, no damage to the meat at all. When I was there 2 years ago, the bullet went in to the shoulder, but did not hit bone, I was able to "eat right up to the bullet hole", as old timers used to say.

Where did you hunt it and what was the general cost if you don't mind my asking?
Well done Btw. The 45/70 is a great round

The place is called Ranch d'Amérique, about 50 km. from Mont Tremblant, and the cost is $3.50 a pound alive. Excellent place and great service.

I'm using Hornady Leverevolution 325gr. Close enough for me. Thanks Papaclaude.

That's what I used 2 years ago. Did really well, too. The reason I didn't use them this year is that I hadn't been able to find any in the stores, and I haven't been able to develop an accurate handload for them.
