I'm at the point where I'm bored and looking to mod my existing firearms instead of buying new ones.

What do you guys use for ghost rings. Currently looking at Wilson Combat for 135$US + install fees. Are they worth it, what else is out there ?

Thank you

I use Vang comps and had Casey install them. To be honest I prefer my rifled sights on my slug barrel over any ghost rings

XS makes a rail with a built in ghost ring and a front band that looks more straightforward to install - not sure about price, but does away with silver soldering the front on, all you need to do is drill and tap for the rear.

Have the Wilson set on a couple 870's. I like em. If you like GR's they're worth it IMO.

why bother with rings at all? it seems more along the line of a "look cool factor" upgrade.... its not going to make your shotgun shoot better, target acquisition i would venture to say would be slower than the standard bead, why not take that money buy some shells and make the shotgun you have work for you? gear is ###y but trigger time can't be replaced

That's why I said " If you like GR's they're worth it IMO."

I like the plain bead and the XS tritium Big Dot just as much as I like Ghost Rings.

Wilson makes the best ghost rings but they still don't beat the factory rifle sights IMO, which give up very little in speed to a bead while matching the GR's for precise shooting.

Got plenty of trigger time with this particular shotgun, owned it for 10 years now and shot thousands of rounds (birdshot, buckshots and slugs) with it. So trigger time is not an issue, just bored and wanting to #### around with one of the shotgun I own :p

I just tried one equipped with GR lately and really liked the feeling and the way it aimed. Target acquisition time didnt change at all, ran the same course with my shotgun and I saw slugs in a tighter group at distance 40m to 100m. I dont see it as a "LCF" upgrade, but just a different sighting system.

For those interested, I picked Wilson Combat installed by TacOrd.

Got one rifle sights on my 870P, love them too

I just bought a 870 tactical that came with ghost sights and I love it! This is my fourth 870 and I have other shotguns as well. I find the ghost sights accurate and quick to get on target. Plan on using this for three gun someday.
