I have decided to add another handgun to the collection and have not owned either of these guns before. What are pros and cons of each? Which would you all recommend?

I fall into the Glock fanboy category, but I think you got your question wrong. it should be Glock 19 or P228
and the answer is Glock 19. Better magazines, reliable action and being able to literally take a sh!t kicking. also a fully loaded glock weighs less than most pistols empty. Glocks also are easy to find just about anything for.

There should be a dedicated sticky for all the pros and cons of Glocks, SIGs, HKs, Walthers, S&Ws and Berettas.
OP,
There is no one answer to your question.
They are both very good and respected guns that will do what you want of them, in whatever style of shooting you choose.
It'll be almost 50/50 between Glock and SIG.
Some will say " Get both!" Others will say handle them before you buy. Some will argue metal vs. polymer frame. Some will talk about the high bore axis of the SIG. Others will complain about the Glock trigger pull and the bad plastic sights. And others will suggest something completely different like a 1911 or a PPQ or a revolver.
In the end, the call is yours and what your wallet can fork out.

I have both and while I am a total Sig fanboy, the Glock fills a gap for me in my pistol collection. I fall firmly in the get both category. And then get a 229 and a G19. Which one you get first is down to personal preference and budget. Enjoy!

They're both great guns. I think it boils down to personal preference on hammer vs striker fired, polymer vs metal, SA/DA vs DA only, etc.

The Sig is a lot heavier than the Glock, but exceeds it in fit and finish, and visual appeal (IMO)

The Glock is less expensive to purchase and buy magazines for, but come with garbage (again, IMO) sights from the factory that require immediate replacement.

I'm endeavoring to buy all of the above, lol!

My first was a sig 226, which I loved that gun but quite frankly the day I bought my glock 17 was the day before I put my 226 up for sale.
As far as I'm concerned the DA/SA is dead when compared to a striker fired gun, why master 2 trigger pulls over 1?

Height over bore, after shooting my glock for awhile I picked up my 226 and the MASSIVE difference in height was Unbearable. You really notice the difference in recoil.

Cost: you can find glocks for almost half the price of sigs these days.

Replacement parts and magazines: no handgun offers more aftermarket parts, replacement parts or magazine availability like glock does. Plus with magpuls release of their glock magazines it's even cheaper to find them now.

I chose glocks over any other handgun because they do everything a handgun should well within acceptable tolerances, are impeccably reliable, and nothing you DONT need.

Where in SK are you located? I have a G17 you're free to try and several people at my range shoot 226's. PM me if interested.
