The Colt collectors forum is buzzing.

Colt is Re introducing the DA Revolver in 2017,

According to the ad, it will be a stainless D size frame, which they are calling a Cobra (Cobras were aluminum frame detective specials).

Suggested retail is said to be $699 and shipping date is supposed to be February.

Some variant should be coming to Canada as California has similar barrel length requirements to Kanada.

Sure hope they do come out with a line of wheel guns.

A Colt anything for under $1K? Pinch me, I must be dreaming... I think you missed a 1 in front of the 6 in the price. lol

Edit: I'm still giggling like a school girl. Sure hope they make a Cali/Canada compliant barrel model.

I always thought it was silly that they didn't reintroduce the snake guns since they are selling for such ridiculous sums... wonder what impact this will have on current market value of $4000 pythons.

.Unless they can match the older guns in fit and finish... it won't change a thing.

Even if they do...heck, even if they came out with Pythons again that rivaled older Pythons...it wouldn't matter. An older Python is still going to be extremely desirable and command (stupid?) prices. Such is human nature.

Okay, so when are they reviving the full underlug wheel guns?

Follow up question. Who do I throw my money at?

The story is that they are debuting 2 DA revolvers in 2017.

My money is on a "New Service" 1917 revival...(with SF-VI lockwork) that was mooted by Keys when he took over in '02.

1917-2017 would fit with their recent 1911/1911a1/1903/1908 commemorative campaign

I'm pretty sure there will be lineups for $1000 pythons.
Of course there would be...but nobody would be selling for that price.

...they are nice guns but not $4000 nice.
I understand that is your feeling about it because it certainly isn't an absolute truth... folks have been paying that price and more for quite some time, and I believe will continue to do so, regardless of what the factory puts out. I would have a hard time putting out $4K for one...but that is only because of my current financial position.

Seems to me they could be had not too long ago for 2000ish...before Walking Dead came out.

Great to hear....I knew in my heart they would re release these......the old ones will still retain their value as a 2000$ plus revolver I'd assume

Um... You can keep your $4,000 Python, if I can get one with similar or better fit/finish/function for $1,000. It would totally matter, haha.

Rumours do not equal facts. I made it my business to question many Colt reps at the SHOT SHOW a couple years in a row. I got the same answer:
Colt would never, could never build the Python ever again.
Something big was coming from Colt...we just can't say what...
Colt wants to enter the revolver market again but we can't say when...

Consider this: For Colt to re-enter the revolver market, they would have to create an entirely new gun based on today's technology as their old machinery, and procedures just are too obsolete. That means an investment cast frame, maybe a sleeved barrel like S&W's new model 66, and probably MIM parts. Plus they would need a ton of new money to make it happen.

I'm not buying it....Oopppsss!
Saw the notice about the introduction of the new Colt Cobra in stainless steel. Looks very interesting, however, it is a prohib unless Colt makes it with a 4.2" barrel..
I stand corrected!

It's a reintroduction of the 1998-1999 SF-VI and Magnum Carry which retailed in the $500 msrp at that time.

All of the "Colt" people are repeating the phrase "no new Python"...

Colt seems to have pretty much gone totally CNC.
