Hey Guys;

At Cabelas today I picked up a Ruger American Predator in 22-250 on sale for $539.99 ($100 off), as well as a Bushnell Legend Ultra HD 4.5-14x42 scope with the mil-dot reticle and steel Weaver rings.

I saved an additional $77 bucks by using two $20 customer survey questionnaires and asking for 10% off the scope (37$) because it was the display model & last one they had in stock.

Coyotes BEWARE!!!

Cheers
Jay

congrats. I got the same rifle @ cabela's a few days ago in .380 win after doing lots of research. great value. plan to load up some 125 SST for yotes and 150/165 SST for deer. should be fun!

Thanks guys!

I looked around at 'value priced' options, including the Remington 783, but discounted it when I had a look at the specs because it has a 1 in 14 twist. That means it will only stabilize varmint weight rounds...

If you look at the Ruger American Predator specs, it has a 1 in 10 twist, so it will stabilize the heavier bullets (like the 64 grain PowerPoint for deer) as well as the lighter bullets...

Add the sale at Cabelas and the discounts with the coupons & that's why the Ruger won out.

Cheers

Anyone else see the humor in requiring a "dedicated coyote rifle" to have a fast twist to shoot deer bullets?

It's ok though. I have a dedicated coyote rifle and and for some reason I'm still working up coyote loads for my "dedicated target rifle" and my one of my deer/coyote rifles. Gun nutz sure are a funny breed...

PS enjoy the new rifle Jay!

Beware wyle coyotes, Jay will hurt you good... Nice shooting rig... JP.

Ruger lists the rifle's weight at 6.6 lbs and with the Bushnell Legend scope, rings & 4 rounds of ammo it weighs in at 8 lbs 4.5 oz. Not bad I'd say!

Cheers

Those ultra hd scopes are awesome for the money. I was going to buy another but caught Cabelas sale on ziess terra for $300 and order 3

Ya, this is my first one & my first impression is that I like the Bushnell Legend Ultra HD and really like the parallax adjustment on this model. (I have been a fan of the Elite 6500 series previously.)

Initially, I was thinking 3-12 or 4-16, but the Legend comes in 4.5-14 and the price point was right... So...
