Is there a new Nolser round coming out or is this something else?

Yes, the 22 Nosler is new for 2017.

According to our Nosler rep it will be (basically) a 223 that gives you a little better than 22-250 velocity (they were giving info about the caliber at the Big Rock sports show at the beginning of December).

Nosler will be chambering it in their rifles of course and have discussed the caliber with Browning which has already picked up the 26, 28 and 30 Nosler.

Boring is right. I think I could get more on board with some of these new fangled calibers if they weren't asking for my left nut to buy any rifle chambered it in and my first born child in order to afford the ammunition.

I think I'll just stick with the classics. Possibly a wildcat or two. Because 7 bucks a round is a bit rich for my blood.

Herd rumblings that it will be the 30 rem ar. necked to 224. Factory loads in the 70gr range. Idea is a ar platform hot rod 223 with the same boltface but better ballistics.

The 22-250 and the 30 AR both have about 44 gr H2O capacity. The 30 is about .400" shorter and slightly fatter. Neck it down to .224 and I see less capacity than a 22-250 case.

Well a 223 AI picks up 2 grains of case capacity, at 36 grains this would be 5 more than factory 223.

223 wssm is 53 grains of capacity, which is pretty much equal to a 243 case. No wonder the 223 wssm failed, a 243 necked down is already a short action caliber without any issues of feeding the short fat cases. Barrel burners though...

maybe nosler should take there 30 nosler and neck it down to the 224 cal .now that would be interesting .
